Friday Afternoon Dept of McConnell Hypocrisy

Ugh. Wasn’t it lame for the Lunsford campaign to point out that Man Coulter referred to Bruce— without naming him, of course– as a pinhead? If Brad Katz hadn’t brought it up, no one would be laughing about it at this very moment. Who cares that a urine-injectiong horse thinks that some unnamed challenger is a pinhead? Good god. [Trey Pollard]

More from the department of FEAR! The Onion predicted the future in 1993. And I’ll be damned, it’s actually happening. Right now. [Jed Report]

On Monday morning from 5:00-7:00 A.M., WHAS11 will host a dozen Young Democrats and a dozen Young Republicans (breaking in throughout Good Morning Kentuckiana) will discuss Commitment 2008. Tune in as you’re getting ready for work! Nicole Candler and Brad Cummings are just two of the folks who will be involved. [Email Blast]

Kentucky State House Democrats gave an excellent briefing this morning about their races and impressive battle plans. They’ve already gained three seats this cycle and are eyeing western Kentucky to win an extra seat on election night. Meanwhile, Jennifer Moore is set to cost Democrats three State Senate seats– despite the fact that she repeatedly tells everyone she’s going to win them. Guess she’s gonna have a long election night. [Conference Call]

Hillary Clinton will be in Kentucky this Sunday to campaign again for Bruce Lunsford. Hazard Rally: Perry County Central High School, doors open at 11:00 A.M., event begins at 12:00 Noon. Louisville Rally: UAW Local 862, Fern Valley Road, doors open at 1:00 P.M., event begins at 2:00 P.M. Everybody go take pictures of the madness and tell us how much fun it is. [Press Release]

Breaking: More Anti-McConnell Campaign Material

Original Story:

Ugh. It just keeps getting worse. With the launch of the radio ad we just published, we can’t help but wonder who is responsible for the flyer below.

We hear 150,000 copies are being distributed at churches across the Commonwealth this Sunday.

And, no, we do not condone this.

Worst Anti-McConnell Ad Ever

AFSCME has released what could have been an amazing radio ad attacking Mitch McConnell. It goes on and on about everything Mitch has done to ruin the world and then brings up his military record.

A deep and ominous-voiced announcer says:

“Now, people in Kentucky are asking why Mitch McConnell won’t release his entire military records. The Lexington Herald-Leader reported that McConnell was discharged after serving less than six months. But McConnell won’t discuss the full details … What is he hiding? … Isn’t it time for Mitch McConnell to be straight with us?”

Listen to it for yourself:

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

Was it really necessary for AFSCME to sink super-low to the ground and question Mitch McConnell in a manner in which could be construed that they’re hinting at sexual orientation? We’re absolutely blown away by this b.s. And that’s coming from us– folks who want nothing more than to find out once and for all if Mitch has something to hide. But we’re intelligent enough to know that you don’t jack around with a story like this unless you have evidence.

Annoying.  Homophobia isn’t okay anywhere, any time, no matter what.

For your convenience, we have included the complete transcript of the ad after the jump…

Mitch McConnell Attacks Bruce Lunsford

Now Mitch is going balls-to-the-wall in his chickenhawk effort to retain his U.S. Senate seat:

It’s funny that Mitch McConnell – the third wealthiest person in the Senate, with a giant, elitist mansion in Washington, D.C. that he claims as his primary resident– would attack Bruce Lunsford for being successful.

Never forget: While you’ve been working hard to just get by the past 24 years, Mitch McConnell has been stealing from every taxpayer in this country. He and his Labor Secretary wife have been fleecing us left and right. And now they’re running scared. The jig is up!

Secretary of State’s Mock Election 2008

Secretary of State Trey Grayson held the annual mock election this week. Over 100,000 elementary, middle and high school students across the Commonwealth cast their vote for President, Congress and voiced their opinion on the most important issue facing the United States.

“It is essential that students become acclimated to the democratic process, and there is no better way than for them to participate in the process themselves,” stated Secretary Grayson. “We hope that this will begin a lifelong commitment to voting among these young people.”

We’re not sure if Trey’s Party affiliation sways votes, but it’s interesting that every single time he holds one of these, Republicans edge out Democrats. Which makes zero sense/doesn’t add up. But this IS Kentucky. That said, it’s still fun. Take a look at some pictures of some of the kids “debating” and check out the crowd.

Now for the results:

McCain/Palin 48.6%
Obama/Biden 47%
Nader/Gonzalez 3.1%
Baldwin/Thornsberry 0.6%
Barr/Root 0.8%
