Comparing Frankfort, Kentucky and Jackson, Mississippi doesn’t make much sense when it comes to discussing President Barack Obama’s hunt for votes in the south. Since Kentucky isn’t really the south. [The Economist]

The wife of DeWayne Bunch will replace her husband in the December 20 special election. Democrats say they’re not picking a candidate because they can’t beat Bunch. [H-L]

Arresting anti-Wall Street protesters is just going to send this country further into turmoil. Eventually, people will get a grip. Silencing legitimate concerns will get this country nowhere. [Reuters]

Students at the University of Louisville are protesting rising tuition costs. A 77% increase from 2004 is insane. Meanwhile, Jim Ramsey continues to make ten billion dollars a year. [C-J/AKN]

Of course the government subsidizes the lifestyles of the mega-wealthy. That’s how this country works. [HuffPo]

Sexytime Herman Cain apparently has no clue what Barack Obama has done with Libya. Further proves that he may, indeed, be one of those gross pizzas he was responsible for. [Wonkette]

Northern Kentucky leaders probably shouldn’t be listening much to what Greg Fischer has to say about Louisville’s Waterfront Park. [Amanda Van Benschoten's Replacement]

Jerry Abramson promises to be an “active” lieutenant governor. Which is 99% of the problem in Louisville: his actions. Until he tries to run for the U.S. Senate, of course. [FOX41]

The Personnel Board is holding off on the expansion of an investigation against adult baby Richie Farmer. Why? Because it was all politically motivated. Just like everything the Beshear crew has done for the past few years. [H-L]

A recession in Europe could hit Appalachian states the hardest. While Kentucky isn’t mentioned, West Virginia certain is. And you know what that means. [HuffPo]

Lexington should learn from Louisville’s history of trying to mess around with take-home police cruisers. [WKYT]

Wondering what Anne Northup is up to these days? She’s involved in the partisan gridlock threatening the Consumer Product Safety Commission, that’s what. [WaPo]

We told you Bill Johnson’s ignorant push for voter ID legislation was part of a broader mouth-breather effort to institute poll taxes and stifle the democratic process. [The Hill]

New York state doesn’t hate the gays.
HAHAHA, oh, my. “Phil Harmon” got an endorsement instead of Phil Moffett. Guess those Take Back Kentucky folks really know a lot about what they’re doing. Getting their candidate’s name incorrect and all at a press conference they billed as “major.” [John Cheves]

Glad to see the meth bill effectively dead in the water. What wasteful, though originally well-intentioned, legislation. [Bluegrass Politics]

Watching the teabagger complain about Rand Paul is hilarity. Watching him get fewer votes than Bobbie Holsclaw is even more hilarity. Particularly now that he’s attacking Rand Paul. You know what they say about glass teabagger houses.
Watching the mormon cult hypocrite wing of the teabaggers turn on Rand Paul is highly entertaining. Further proof that the real Tea Party is not behind Phil Moffett.

Earlier this morning I questioned the Elmo Greer campaign finance scandal involving Steve Henry, Ernie Fletcher and Anne Northup.

Tom Loftus had a great story about it all. Unfortunately, I’m hearing that Loftus hasn’t heard the full story from the money launderers and their attorneys.

Turns out – according to sources in both state and federal government – Greer and crew did, indeed, have to do an interview or two over this mess. I hear that as a result of another corruption and campaign finance investigation (*wink, wink*) that they had to sit down with the feds as part of an investigation that may or may not be ongoing.

So that bit about investigators not doing their part? That’s not exactly the full story.

Will the big tent of the Kentucky Democratic Party collapse onto the circus below? Hell yes it will. Unfortunately, Meador must be mistaken thinking the KDP is responsible for the ambitions of Steve Beshear and gambling to retake the state senate.
Kentucky’s teabagging former “entertainer” came off looking, well, dumb as a box of Jim Gooch’s used bunion pads. She was so excited about how she was going to get a balanced report. She begged everyone to show up to make her look legit. Hahaha. What a shame. She couldn’t even hold her own against an actual tea expert. Miss Thing still hasn’t been able to prove to the world that Joe (or me) ever threatened her daughter. [WSJ]

So much for honesty, right?

Thought we’d share:

“Over the past 3 years, I have become increasingly concerned with the leadership of our country, including our Congressional Representative in the 3 District. After long discussions with family and friends over the issues facing our community, I made the decision to run for Congress. As such, I filed paperwork last week with the Federal Election Commission establishing a campaign committee to run for the 3 Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives.”

-SNIP-

“As a husband, father and grandfather, I am running to leave our children with a brighter future. For the first time in my life, I am concerned that their future is in doubt as a result of the bitter partisanship that permeates Washington and the same-old big government approach taken by too many in Congress. There have been too many empty promises and poor decisions made by our representative. Some of these decisions have resulted in benefits being shared by folks representing their own self interests and not the fine people of Louisville.”

Not quite sure which empty promises and poor decisions John Yarmuth has made. Maybe he’s confusing John with our former congresscritter, Anne Northup?

It’s the Final Day of the Golden B.S. Award nominations. Make your suggestions for each category ASAP because the process will come to a close in just a day or so.
Matthew Barzun was confirmed by the full U.S. Senate as Ambassador to Sweden. Congratulations, Matthew! Anne Northup also confirmed. [WFPL]

Lt. Dan just got his rear-end handed to him by Richard Becker. Great flashback. [Barefoot & Progressive]

Republicans are so afraid of Jack Conway that they’re promoting Daniel Mongiardo’s attack homophobe’s talking point. They suggest the use of “bitch” is as bad as George Allen’s racist and bigoted usage of “macaca” to describe a non-white young man. Like one commenter suggests, referring to oneself with colorful language is hardly the equivalent of using racist attack language to demean another person. The attack homophobe, of course, is known for his usage of profanity and closed-minded attacks. Daily Kos commenters aren’t buying it. [EITB & Daily Kos]

What? Even MORE evidence that the faux health care “town halls” are pure Republican propaganda? As if the Republican Party in Kentucky is pushing them all over the place – Like Louisville – wasn’t enough. [HuffPo]

Wait, wait – here’s even more proof. The Jefferson County Republican Party, chaired by Brad Cummings, sent out an email blast promoting a protest sponsored by the American Small Business Partnership to promote the faux health care “town hall” designed as a front to attack John Yarmuth. Takes place on Monday, August 4, 11:45 A.M. @ Yarmuth’s office on 600 Martin Luther King Junior Place. The email closes with, “You pay his salary and the salaries of his staff. The least he can do is show up and let you be heard.” Nevermind

The Democratic Kentucky Senate race has made it to the Number 5 spot from the previous rank of 7 with The Fix. [Washington Post]

Joe Gerth says that Stephen Colbert “took aim” at Jack Conway but neglects to mention that Colbert hit Daniel Mongiardo for being ridiculous. [C-J]

Are you ready for this? The big announcement Steve Beshear and Jerry Abramson made today: church conventions are coming ot the arena. Millions of Pentacostals will be flooding downtown Louisville. Did Jeebus send the rains on Tuesday to wash the original presser out? The strip joints and liquor wholesalers are no doubt wetting themselves as we speak. [The 'Ville Voice]

Like I said earlier, this story is way too hyped up and the Mongiardo Campaign most certainly is responsible. [Joe Arnold]

HAHAHA! The Paultards called me a troll. We’re apparently upset that Ro… Rand Paul announced his candidacy on Faux News. And we only have 12 readers. Cute how the Paultard boss lost his shiz over direct links to this site. [When Paultards Attack]

It’s official. Rand Paul thinks the U.S. Senate race is a joke and he’s named a blogger as his campaign manager. Cannot. Breathe. From. Laughter. Adams even said he needed help promoting the press release on the Twitter machine. Guess they fired the guy who said Rand would vote for people in New York and California. Hahahahha.
It’s official. Trey Grayson has decided to pretend he dislikes the gays. And with that comes us working against him 24/7. The transformation to McConnell-lite has begun. And, really, Rand Paul? “Announcing” your candidacy on Glenn Beck? HAHAHA. [H-L]

Don’t forget the Golden B.S. Awards. Make your nominations for each category today! [Day 1, Day 2, Day 3 & Day 4]

How cute. Now Mitch McConnell is accusing Democrats of trying to kill old people. [AP]

Nope, David Tandy will not be Louisville’s next mayor. [WFPL]

Hal Rogers’ fancy National Bio Agro Defense Facility isn’t coming to southeastern Kentucky after all. It’s going to Kansas. [Jim Bruggers]

Even the fancy radio people recognize that Rand Paul’s supporters aren’t Kentuckians. [Gabe Bullard]

That Barack Obama put Anne Northup on the Consumer Product Safety Commission, thanks to Mitch McConnell. Someone should ask Northup if she’s still consuming and operating vehicles. Like John Yarmuth said, hopefully she will “fulfill her responsbilities to protect the public health and safety.” [Jim Carroll]

Gay-hating Republicans in Kentucky don’t have much to cheer in the 2010 Senate primary. Nor do gay-hating Kentucky Democrats, which are just as plentiful.
Tom Wills will no longer be on the teevee because he is just way too old for people to understand him. Naturally, a young lady will replace him. That’s how teevee works.

Remember last year when Anne Northup and other Ensure-loving Louisville Republicans had a fancy picnic or whatever?

No?

Well, it’s that time again!

Literally tens of people will show up to drink Ensure and eat delicious ambrosia salad and cream of wheat this Saturday at 2:00 at Christian Academy of Louisville.

This year Trey Grayson, Cathy Bailey and Rand Paul will all be on-hand. It’s sure to be a flustercuck of epic proportions. You can ask Rand why he’s pretending to be in exploratory mode (ask Trey the same thing, duh) and you can tell Cathy Bailey she’d be insane to run for the U.S. Senate. Oh, and you can play cornhole while talking about your teabagging parties.

Somebody better furnish photographs of the shenanigans.
