Haha, so, funny story…

Here’s Andrew Horne’s ridiculous robocall against Rand Paul. Listen for yourself:

If you can’t listen for whatever reason, here’s a transcript:

“I’m calling Christians all across Kentucky about Rand Paul. As a young man, Rand Paul’s men’s club mocked Christians and Christ. The Baylor University president condemned him as rude, crude and grossly sacrilegious.

“Rand Paul said recently, he believes tax deductions for charitable donations are bad. And that President George Bush’s faith-based initiatives are quote, ‘a horrible mistake.’

“Do your own research. See that these quotes aren’t out-of-context. They’re Rand Paul’s own beliefs and his own words. The question is, ‘are they yours?’

“I urge you to vote your conscience on election day.

“This call paid for by Kentucky Leadership Council.”

Using Jesus to scare people away from Rand Paul.

Yeah, that’s what I’d call “leadership.”

Wow.

UPDATE THE NEXT DAY: Yet another reason this robocall is gross.

I don’t like criticizing Andrew Horne, but give me a break. His wife and others have spent the past two months telling everybody and their mother that Andrew’s part of a new organization focused on taking Rand Paul down. So he needs to can it with the non-partisan talking point. P.S. How can a group consider itself political leaders when they’re all outsiders or have never been elected?
Does anybody remember what it was like to have a KDP chair who wasn’t a Republican? I sure do and I miss those days. Well, I mean I miss the idea of a chairperson who isn’t a Republican or isn’t acting a thousand times worse than a Republican, as a few previous chairs have. It’s too bad Kentucky’s Democrats are being hung out to dry. [Oh, The Possibilities]

The Second Annual Golden Poo Awards are upon us! I will drive you crazy every day for like two whole weeks, for fun. So go nominate someone for yesterday’s category. [Page One]

The gayest man alive, Ted Haggard, still says he’s not gay. His homo prostitute with meth situation was just a massage gone wrong. What will gayface say next? Jesus h.
Folks in Ohio don’t have too many nice things about Jack Conway’s new communications director. Won’t miss this guy. His snippy, evasive, condescending answers always got on my nerves. Hope his trip across the river to Kentucky improves his attitude because I really, really, really do not want to see Rand Paul in the Senate next year. [Ohio Daily]

Mitch McConnell sent out a press release saying he’s on Facebook and YouTube. And he said “Web site” instead of “website” – showing just how many decades late he is. [Press Release]

What? There’s trouble with ‘Amanda’s Law’ and it’s not as useful as folks promised? Maybe it costs too much? Imagine that. [Enquirer]

Is running advertising promoting Rand Paul. No disclaimer. No language about who paid for the spot. Rand & crew will apparently never take campaign finance seriously. [Lacking Common Sense]

Rand Paul is now blaming the DNC for the controversy surrounding his comments that he said. HE chose to appear on television all those times. HE chose to write those letters to the editor. HE chose to continue “explaining” things. [Joe Arnold]

Wait for it – the Kentucky Equality Federation is once again trying to revise history. Jordan Palmer’s mother accused me of slander while impersonating another individual. See it for yourself and take a trip down memory lane. In the meantime, I believe you should support other fairness groups.
The teabaggers are all over YouTube re-tagging videos with non-whites as ‘vote rand paul.’ As is pointed out, that’s kind of desperate. [That Mommy Lady]

Since Mitch McConnell is so tight with AT&T, maybe he should do something about the poor service provided in Kentucky by the company. [C-J]

Roger Alford, the Associated Press stenographer, says Rand Paul is distancing himself from the Libertarian Party. Reality is, however, that the Libertarian Party in Kentucky publicly distanced itself from Paul a couple weeks ago. What is it with the AP these days? First, inaccurate stories about the Steve Henry scandal and now misleading headlines and stories about the U.S. Senate race. [HuffPo]

Former Metro Corrections employees are suing Louisville Metro Government. Mayor Jerry Abramson’s crew are directly involved. And before Jerry’s staff tries to dismiss everything? The plaintiff’s attorney is Andrew Horne, a guy doesn’t say or do anything he’s not 100% behind and extremely confident in.

Last week Vote Vets hit Mitch McConnell with a television spot featuring Iraq & Afghanistan veteran George Zubaty.

This week Andrew Horne is keeping it up:

“Senator McConnell knows this is the wrong approach — particularly at a time when we are trying to grow good jobs here at home,” Steurer said.

But Andrew Horne, a member of the veterans’ group, said in a call with reporters Thursday that McConnell has a choice.

“Is he going to be on the side of Big Oil or on the side of troops and veterans?” asked Horne, a Louisville Marine Corps colonel who is a veteran of Afghanistan and a former Democratic candidate for Congress.

What was that again, warmongers, about Horne disappearing? He’s still standing up for these issues.

Last week we mentioned receiving email blasts from Daniel Mongiardo’s U.S. Senate campaign at fake accounts we set up specifically for various campaigns throughout the past few years. (How’s that for a long, probably grammatically incorrect sentence?) Dozens of other people, as well, have reported receiving Lt. Dan’s emails after only signing up for one campaign or the other.

For a moment we thought it may be possible for the Kentucky Democratic Party’s list– compiled from various campaigns– to have been passed along to Lt. Dan’s campaign. And it may have been, despite the fact that the Party doesn’t assist any specific candidate during primaries.

The emails couldn’t have come from the Party’s voter file as the fake names and email accounts aren’t tied to real voters. Many of the addresses receiving email blasts have never received KDP email in the past.

In addition to former supporters of Bruce Lunsford’s candidacy receiving emails, we’ve learned that individuals who signed up for Andrew Horne’s Senate campaign are receiving Lt. Dan’s messages. The same goes for supporters of John Yarmuth.

What’s really interesting, though, are the members of my former private fundraising list who are receiving emails. Individuals who have never signed up to be a part of a candidate’s blast list. Individuals I tagged to receive a one-time message from Andrew Horne during his brief U.S. Senate campaign after calling to ask their permission. Folks who were never to be added to a database or contacted more than once. All culled from a list that I made a living from and never abused. Always made darn sure nothing was ever added to a database and with the Horne Campaign, had staff members show me the database to ensure they weren’t included.

So, dear readers, tell me what’s up. Does it make sense to assume there’s a common factor amongst all those campaigns? Somebody is blending email lists and they aren’t they paying for them.

Not the end of the world, of course. Just a minor issue.

Somebody still has a lot of explaining to do.

Fresh from the tubes, Lt. Col. Andrew Horne’s endorsement of Jack Conway in the race for the United States Senate:

I am endorsing Jack Conway for three specific reasons:

First, I believe Jack gives us the best shot of winning in 2010 especially since it is unlikely that Jim Bunning will survive his Party’s nominating process. Jack will proudly fight for our progressive ideals and we all now understand Democrats cannot win by simply being safe regional candidates. More importantly, we need a new brand of political leaders if Kentucky and our country is to make its way through the challenges of this century.

Second, as someone who proudly served in combat, in Iraq, it is clear to me that we need Senators who will ask the tough question and stand up to the powerful. Jack will be that kind of Senator. He is also the kind of man who will not let us forget the sacrifice our men and women made on the battlefield when they come home injured and in need of care. Accountability has taken a back seat to expediency in Washington over the past decade. Our new President gives us hope for a new day, but it is important to remember that Presidents serve relatively short terms and we have long-term challenges before us. As Attorney General and as a lawyer, Jack has proved he is willing to fight for the people and ask the tough questions.

Third, we need a Senator who will tackle a diverse set of issues. Kentucky has many challenges and while I admire Lt. Governor Mongiardo’s effort on health care it is important that our next United States Senator have a broad background and intellectual curiosity. The question is not what is known today but what are the issues we will deal with in this changing world. Jack’s experience in the governor’s office, as a private lawyer, and as Attorney General will be beneficial to Kentucky.

Nice. While not a scathing indictment of Daniel Mongiardo, Horne makes his position clear. And it’s not likely to make the Mongiardo crew happy.

(Before anyone suggests he’s short-sighted, Horne praised both candidates in the beginning of his message by saying both are talented and well-liked.)

About a month ago we brought a rather interesting campaign finance issue to your attention. It seems NGP, a national software vendor for Democratic campaigns, could have betrayed thousands of Democrats. The company promotes itself as only working with Democrats and only supporting Democratic interests. But it turns out that couldn’t be further from the truth, as NGP has worked with countless Republican Political Action Committees and has gone so far as to charge Republicans less than Democrats.

It should be noted that we’ve loved NGP’s software products and have worked with the company for a long time. We’ve recruited hundreds of thousands (if not millions) of dollars worth of business for the company– all because it was the best product on the market and because of their guarantees. But with the latest allegations coming to the forefront of Democratic campaign discussions, no one at the company has been able to alleviate or address our concerns.

So we want to examine just how much money NGP has received from candidates in Kentucky over the past few years. Primarily because we believe Kentuckians have been misled and their sensitive data could have been placed at risk. Since several candidates are already considering lawsuits and are making requests for refunds, we thought it’d be a good idea to see just how much has been spent on NGP in the Commonwealth.

Take a look:

Ben Chandler for U.S. Congress $24,000

Nick Clooney for U.S. Congress $4,500

Jack Conway for U.S. Congress $5,100

Ken Lucas for U.S. Congress $17,000

Tony Miller for U.S. Congress $4,500

John Yarmuth for U.S. Congress $74,000

Beshear-Mongiardo for Governor/Lt. Governor $48,000

Greg Fischer for U.S. Senate $7,200

Jack Conway for Attorney General $8,900

Bruce Lunsford for U.S. Senate $40,000

Andrew Horne for U.S. Congress & U.S. Senate $4,800

Source: Federal Election Commission and Kentucky Registry of Election Finance reports

That’s a total of at least $240,000. And we’re not including smaller campaigns for the state legislature. So you can imagine what the potential total in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Then factor in all of the money flowing from other states and U.S. territories and we’re talking about millions upon millions of dollars spent based on misinformation and potential deception and thousands of campaigns potentially put at risk.

Stay tuned over the coming weeks as this story develops. We’ll have more information in a few days.

Clarification: Just want to make it clear – when we say “Republican PACs,” we’re referring to PACs that gives a substantial portion of their funds to Republicans or Republican causes.

The Hill thinks Crit Luallen is a man. It’s almost like they don’t know how to use the Google machine. And they obviously don’t know how to check their own archives for interviews that clearly state she’s a female. Nice job.
The Kentucky Club for Growth links to our story about J. Marshall Hughes and says he’ll hold the line on taxes. Unfortunately, KCG neglects to mention that Hughes has a major problem paying his own taxes and has had several government liens placed against him. Isn’t it boldly hypocritical to link to the story and avoid mentioning the content of the story itself?
