The Extent Of Joshua Powell's Disinformation Campaign Will Surprise Even His Harshest Critics

This is PART THREE of a multi-part series. Click here for: Part One and Part Two.

Today we’re really taking you down the rabbit hole.

Powell seemed to be keenly aware of the risk involved in publicly (rather than behind closed doors and anonymously on Topix) going after the EPSB:

They continued with the EPSB petition scheme:

These next two emails forwarded by Hughes to Powell are messages he sent to the Mount Sterling Advocate in buying that monstrous ad:

Hughes then sent this to Powell:

Along with the first draft of the advertisement:

Now you get to see Powell panic a bit over publicly attacking the EPSB (rather than anonymously, as he prefers) and a bit about disgruntled former employees:

You see that Powell also leaked embargoed (by the state, no less!) test scores to Hughes, who was planning to hide where he’d obtained them, as if to suggest he had access to data via anyone other than Powell.

Hughes replied:

To further illustrate just how nervous Powell was, here’s his follow-up:

Hughes complied:

Irrefutable proof that Powell was absolutely involved in everything Hughes did. In their own writing. Proof. From government emails. Not made up out of thin air.

Hughes later forwarded along some of his correspondence with the Advocate:

Several pages from that chain have been removed because Hughes’ personal health is no one’s business.

Just in case you needed a few more hints that the local newspaper is in collusion with the whole bunch:

To point out that this really was a public disinformation campaign, check this:

And this:

He’d involved his entire family in the effort to publicly spin and mislead on behalf of Joshua Powell.

Of course Powell gave his approval:

Powell was feeling uplifted because he thought the scheme was working:

So did Hughes:

Shortly after the giant advertisement ran, Morehead State started receiving complaints that Hughes perceived to be as attacks. Of course, he immediately forwarded everything his superiors sent him directly to Powell:

As if being reminded by University administration that he ought not attempt to portray MSU as standing behind Powell is an attack.

Hughes sent even more to Powell, revealing that he’d attempted to involve MSU President Wayne Andrews and — wait for it — Hughes was spinning with students he was supposed to be educating:

He also roped his department head and several other colleagues into the mess:

In a response, Powell reveals that he also had problems while he worked (worked, as in past tense, as in MSU cut ties with him in May) at MSU:

Hughes wasn’t phased:

Some bonus tidbits for you are below…

Remember Lindsay Tufano (here and here)?

That’s right — anyone presenting facts and evidence (lies, in her words)? They’re terrorists. Sounds familiar, doesn’t it?

Because Hughes’ involvement was so deep, he also started taking it upon himself to defend Powell’s testing snafus:

Unreal.

Now you know it all. You’ve seen it with your own eyes. They not only plotted and schemed to take people down but came up with a plan to launch an advertising campaign focused on intentionally misleading the entire community. The local newspaper was complicit. Everyone thought it was grand.

Then I found out about it.

Thanks to their sloppiness and lack of common sense, we were able to discover that there is, in fact, an ongoing investigation into Phil Rison that is separate from the investigation of Joshua Powell. Despite what they claimed to the school board in August.

We also found out, thanks to that same sloppiness, that the cases were essentially opposing each other but Powell and Rison were in collusion. Going so far as to use the same attorney to handle the competing cases. Just like a divorce attorney handling both sides. Absurd. Or outrageous, once you realize the taxpayer is funding this mess.

Joshua Powell and the rest of his crew at Montgomery County Schools are no longer able to claim anything is made up or fabricated. We have proof directly from their hands about what’s going on.

We’re not finished.
