West Liberty officials are lying through their teeth:
The FBI confirmed Wednesday that it is investigating Morgan County Judge Executive Tim Conley, a central figure in the area’s recovery from a devastating 2012 tornado.
West Liberty Mayor Mark Walter said his office had not been searched and said news of the investigation had shocked the town, which is still working to rebuild from the tornado.
“Everybody is surprised,” he said. “You wonder how this will affect the recovery, (Conley) has been so involved in the rebuilding efforts.”
Unfortunately for Mark Walter, we know he’s lying through his teeth. He was made aware of the investigation several months ago – nearly a year ago. He probably should stop talking lest the real reason he’s now mayor see the light of day.
No one in the town is surprised. It’s been a hot topic of discussion since 2012. In fact, I had conversations about this very matter with the Auditor’s office and federal investigators in early February. The week of February 11 there was a discussion amongst council members and prominent citizens that took place via email and involved Walter. Those emails were forwarded to me and that’s why I had the conversation with Audit staff.
The investigation has involved countless elected officials, government employees, family members and friends of Conley. Very few people in power will escape unscathed.
Recovery efforts have already been harmed. Severely. Not much has improved in the county and it likely will not improve any time soon. Nothing much has changed since the 70s and 80s, really, since so many people in Morgan County (including the then-sheriff, who was married to my mother for a brief period way back when) went to prison for operating a monstrous drug ring. The same families have continued to control everything that occurs in the county. It’s disgustingly incestuous, poisonous, straight out of The Bluegrass Conspiracy.
For those of you who think I’m being a negative nancy? I am. Morgan County corruption is the reason I do what I do. I grew up seeing it – I remember witnessing it in my childhood! It’s actually part of the focus of our new project, which I humbly ask you to support because I have people waiting in the wings to make matching contributions. Both Republicans and Democrats in Frankfort should be especially excited for what’s soon to come. As disgusting as this will sound (it’s not as insensitive as it sounds – I swear), I had to wait on a loved one to pass before moving forward. Now that I don’t have to worry about that situation, people in and around West Liberty need to buckle up because a few things are going to hit the fan.
You think Whitley and Clay Counties are rough? The Bluegrass County of the Mountains is about to experience something that’s needed to occur for decades. Thank the FBI and Kentucky State Police investigators for that. Seriously – send them your thanks because they deserve it.
P.S. Now you know why we just rolled our eyes at Jonathan Miller’s attempts to involve himself via the Clinton Global Initiative a couple months back. It was all hype and now it’s even more inconsequential.
