Damon Thayer Showing His True Colors Again

March 12th, 2013 · 2 Comments

Fresh off his stint of desperately attempting to insert himself into Eastern Kentucky tornado coverage… and pretending to solve the pension disaster in Frankfort… Damon Thayer has sent out another email blast.

Here’s a taste:

With only four days remaining in the 2013 Session, the Senate is working overtime to ensure that action will be taken on the most important issues for moving Kentucky forward, addressing job creation and economic development, special taxing districts, education, drug abuse, and religious freedom.

-SNIP-

This week the Senate struck a blow for religious freedom by passing House Bill 279, known as the Religious Freedom Act. This bill reaffirms the most basic of American principles by specifying that government shall not burden a person’s or religious organization’s freedom of religion and protects the right to act or refuse to act on religious grounds. In addition, the bill maintains the strict standard of scrutiny used to evaluate the legality of any infringement on religious freedom.

What Thayer doesn’t mention is that House Bill 279 is an anti-gay discrimination tool created by bigot Bob Damron. Or that politicians who live in glass houses shouldn’t pretend to be in any way supportive of blatant discrimination couched in terms of “religious freedom.”

Seems like only Kathy Stein has the guts to stand up to the discriminatory mess. It’s a shame other Kentucky Democrats don’t step up and hit back instead of allowing people like Thayer to hide behind a disgusting brand of faux religion.

HB279 is the most subversive piece of garbage the legislature has passed since….aw, heck, they pass subversive garbage most years. This law gives religious people the right to impose their dogma, which is baloney and likely unconstitutional, but unconstitutionality never stopped the KY State Legislature from passing stupid laws before. The main thing this debacle proves is that there are only 12 people in both houses of the state legislature that have functioning brains, or aren’t being paid off by preachermen, or both. It also proves that 100% of the GOP and about 75% of the Dems are idiots, especially Greg Stumblebum and Bob Goddamnron.

HB 279 is nothing but hate disguised as freedom.

    And thinly disguised, at that.

    Sad.

(Will also allow for Sharia Law–for you Muslin-thumpers.)
