Have you been following these shenanigans at Murray State? The Board of Regents and open meetings law apparently don’t get along. And MSU’s president is apparently “confused” about everything.
Here:
Murray State University’s President says he’s confused about an ad-hoc committee’s planned closed door meeting about his contract. Randy Dunn’s current contract expires in June of 2014, and requires the university’s Board of Regents to act on his contract one year before expiration. The board voted to create the ad-hoc committee in December.
The committee will review relevant information to determine whether to extend Dunn a new contract. Both the committee and full board intend to meet about the Dunn’s contract in executive session closed to the public in March. The full description/timeline for the committee is below the story.
But Dunn says a recent Kentucky Attorney General opinion on a similar contract extension situation says the meeting should be open to the public.
We hear through the grapevine that if the BoR should begin meeting in closed session, a complaint will be filed.
Surely the Office of the Attorney General will stop that looming disaster.

Dear Board of Regents, clearly you don’t want your president and your president doesn’t want you since he’s flirted with 2 other jobs recently and UT last year. Just mutually part ways. He’s o for 3 in searching for a new job so that’s pretty telling and clearly he’s not doing a great job there if you are really looking at his contract. Don’t make yourselves look any worse. Just cut the guy a check and move him along. Don’t fall on transparency sword. Be better then him. No respected and qualified candidate will want to come in and takeover with a lack of transparency from the board.
