  1. To be fair Alabama changed it to the donkey just recently. By “just recently” I mean 1996.

    If people doubt it’s racist nature consider this. The “white rooster” was such a symbol of white supremacy that in the 1968 election, that deep south ballots listed Hubert Humphrey under the Democratic donkey, but George Wallace, the segregationist candidate of the American Independent Party, had the rooster.
