Thank Greg Stumbo For Doing The Right Thing

We’re not going to shut up about you giving to the Red Cross for tornado relief efforts. This will take a long time. [Click Here To Give]

Let’s get one thing very clear: Greg Stumbo has done the right thing by opposing this silly telephone deregulation bill in Frankfort. This lady from AT&T needs a reality check. And so does Bob Stivers – if he thinks this kind of push is a good thing for his super-impoverished constituency that was nearly wiped off the face of the earth by tornadoes. Even the Public Service Commission says this is a step to abandon lines in the poorest areas. [C-J/AKN]

Rick The Splooge Santorum told Puerto Rico that the island needs to speak English if it wants statehood. Nope, not a bigoted idiot at all. [HuffPo]

Kentucky is taking out a giant loan to pay interest on yet another loan before raising taxes to pay back both of those loans. [Bluegrass Politics]

Sorry, Marty, you already know that guy is a shyster and had his ass handed to him by the attorney general for thieving. So you can’t exactly call what he does a “gay rights group.” But we both agree it’s time for Chris Hartman to leave Fairness by moving on to greener pastures. [Marty You-Know-Who]

Yet another Steve Beshear appointee in yet another ethics situation that may or may not be ripe for corruption. [C-J/AKN]

People are freaking out that President Barack Obama had donors at the White House last night. Because we all know Dubya never did anything like that, right? [NYT]

The world is in tears because Rod Blagojevich is going to prison for 14 years for trying to sell Binack Nobama’s old senate seat. [Wonkette]

Go read this story (and watch the video) about a Kentucky State Police trooper who narrowly escaped death as a tornado swept through West Liberty. And how he likely saved lives himself moments later. [WKYT]

This is dumb as hell. Who really cares about UPS running a television spot featuring part of a basketball game from 20 years ago? This is the kind of tripe your legislature is wasting time and money on. [H-L]

Congress most certainly creates jobs. For fraudsters, shills and Wall Street analysts. The kind of people running Kentucky Retirement Systems. The folks both Jack Conway and Crit Luallen have ignored. [Pro Publica]

Newt Gingrich is possibly dumber than Sarah The Quitter Palin. This bit about tracking undocumented immigrants via FedEx and UPS? Hahaha. [Click This Mess]

Also, since Mittens Romney is likely to face Barack Obama, you should read this bit about how mormon cultism is bizarre. [Reuters]

Sounds just like the mouth-breathers in Frankfort. Nations fail because their leaders are greedy, selfish and ignorant of history. [The Economist]

So Blago heads to prison for trying to sell Obama’s Senate seat, while all those like Jesse Jackson Jr. who tried to buy it get what? Chicago, it’s a hell of a town all right.
