David Hawpe Rises From Dead To Discuss UPike

February 24th, 2012 · 6 Comments

Lawwwwd, the Steve Beshear and Greg Fischer anger was ripe at the FLOTUS event yesterday. Everybody is pissed at the two of them. Andy Beshear will leave more nasty comments in 3, 2… [Last Night]

If you missed First Lady Michelle Obama’s visit, go read Joe Gerth’s article about what she had to say. [C-J/AKN]

Wow, Merlene Davis is absolutely spinning her ass off. She didn’t once bother to consider anything based in reality other than what she wanted to think about to make her argument when it comes to pseudoephedrine. Typical newspaper hack? [H-L]

Steve Beshear can blame David Williams for his failures all he wants. The reality is that gambling failed – AGAIN – because Beshear didn’t bother talking to Democrats or doing this the right way. Also, Damon Thayer is a WATB and/or regular queen. First they blame Williams for fighting, he brings it to a vote. Then everyone votes against it and now they hate him? Always excuses from that hypocritical bunch. [CN|2 & More CN|2]

What? Now Larry Hayes is telling people he doesn’t want Harold Workman’s job? Interesting how that works. [Rumors We Hear]

Ron Carmicle still believes his reputation on the fair board is golden. What a money-making racket that group of folks is. Remember that they’re all so incompetent they couldn’t handle Vicki Glass when she went crazy? [C-J/AKN]

After more pressure than you can imagine, Bob Stivers has finally conceded that changes to the pseudoephedrine bill are needed. [Ronnie Ellis]

Corrupt Gerald Neal didn’t bother voting on casino gambling yesterday. See how the rest of the State Senate voted on the measure. [WKYT]

David Hawpe wrote an op-ed about how “ramrodding” the University of Pikeville plan is a bad move for Kentucky. That’ll anger Greg Stumbo’s ego a bit. [H-L]

The Freedom from Religion Foundation is calling on Steve Beshear to cancel his prayer breakfast. Who really gives a shiz? It’s not like anyone believes anything the man says – they just like the money he puts in their pockets. [WLKY]

Wait for it… a deputy/#2 named Steve Henry allegedly involved in prohibited political activity while on the job? Yep. And it involves that closet case Mittens Romney sheriff in Arizona. [Arizona Republic]

The probability of an attack on Iran’s nuclear program has been increasing. But the chances of it ending the country’s nuclear ambitions are low. [The Economist]

Thank goodness we’re not the only folks who want to gouge our eyes out listening to Wolf Blitzer. Candy Crawdad is way better and that’s saying a lot. [Wonkette]

The USPS closures aren’t just impacting Kentuckians. They’re impacting 35,000 Americans in total. [HuffPo]

    “Thanks, David”

You tell it like it is in reasoned, balanced fashion on the UPike issue. Patton, Stumbo, etc., have gotten their political hands into the KY higher ed. system at a time when it can hardly afford more colleges. The system needs bolstering, not added problems. It is a shame that the public system looks so weak compared to the prestigious private schools that dot the Blue Grass region.

UPike isn’t about providing college opportunities to students; it’s about how Patton and Stumbo get to hand out jobs at the new UPike. Jobs are Kentucky’s currency in the ole’ boys system.

At least for a little while, anyway, maybe Hawpe should get some un-employed southside Democrat to start his car and taste his food.

Iran does have a point; they haven’t launched a war since the 19th century. They argue that if Pakistan (much less stable than Iran) can have nuclear weapons, why not Iran?
As far as Iran not launching a war in hundreds of years, maybe they are due?

    Jake,
Serious question. What were they (people at flotus event) angry at Beshear about? Other than trying oust Workman and screwing up the casino vote because his ego wouldn’t let him talk to his own party members in the legislature? Was there more? Do tell!

    Uh, it’s Friday.

Not a chance I’m going to make a list THAT long.
