Dear Frankfort: Why Is This Getting Woah Ignored?

January 18th, 2012 · 3 Comments

No one is talking about how Ruth Ann Palumbo could be committing voter fraud and admitting to it.

She admits that she doesn’t live in the house listed on official state records.

But she continues to vote in that precinct, rather than the precinct in which she actually resides.

KRS 119.165 (Warning: External PDF Link) has a few interesting tidbits:

(2) … Any person who knowingly votes or attempts to vote in a precinct other than the one in which he resides shall be guilty of a Class A misdemeanor, unless by voting in a precinct in which he does not live he is enabled to vote in a race or on a matter in which he could not vote in his proper precinct in which case he shall be guilty of a Class D felony.

Can you imagine what would happen if anybody else were to do such a thing? They’d end up in jail. (And, no, this isn’t like Greg Stumbo, who does not live in his district. Because his Eastern Kentucky home is at least habitable and he visits it once in a while.)

Deep thoughts.

Speaking of this subject, where is Doc Blevins actually living these days?

He actually lives in his district, shockingly.

30 years ago he worked in Rowan, lived in Morgan. Now it’s vice versa.
