It’s no secret that yesterday’s Senate Judiciary meeting lasted three hours and was a circle-jerk of fear.
Not a single opponent of Tom Jensen’s bill got to speak.
Here’s a statement from Pat Davis, a consumer and mother of six from Northern Kentucky who traveled to Frankfort to address the pseudoephedrine bill:
“I am disappointed that I along with several other people who oppose Sen. Jensen’s bill weren’t given a chance to testify today. I specifically speak to the impact on consumers and parents, yet the committee was forced to watch videos of news reports and slides that have been seen several times already. It is apparent that the voices of consumers and parents aren’t important to the people running this process.”
It’s a real shame that none of these committee members had the guts to listen to their constituency:
- Tom Jensen, Chair
- Katie Stine, Vice Chair
- Perry Clark
- Carroll Gibson
- Ray Jones
- Jerry Rhoads
- John Shickelosis
- Dan Seum
- Brandon Smith
- Bob Stivers
- Robin Webb
Be sure to let them know what you think.
Kentucky deserves better. Even if you disagree with what your constituents have to say, electeds, it’s your duty to hear them out.
Pro-tip: At least three of those committee members couldn’t pass a urine test for marijuana any day of the year. So they ignorantly have to act like this meth Rx bill is going to be some magic cure.

Really? No mention that Pat Davis is also the wife of retiring Congressman Geoff Davis? That part doesn’t interest anyone?

If anything, that’d make it more insane that she wasn’t allowed to speak.
But I know one thing from having personally dealt with Geoff: he and his wife aren’t on the same page when it comes to everything politically and she’s maybe one of the only political wives in Kentucky who couldn’t give two flips about where her husband stands on anything.
Her position could actually harm him politically.

Which makes it all the more interesting…and worth mentioning that she’s not just some rando mom with a bizillion kids from NKY.

I have had the experience of going to Frankfort to testify and none of us getting the chance to be heard. I know the legislators are busy but they should have more respect for the efforts of Citizens to participate in decisions. In my case a group of parents had arranged to use vacation days to miss work, found and paid for childcare, and coordinated transportation in order to have our voices heard on an issue that had a huge impact on our lives. To be turned away while our legislators went to lunch was a slap in the face. I did write to every member of that committee and eventually was heard, but it still hurts.

This wasn’t a case of lack of time. Was a case of thumbs stuck up butts.
