I had two thoughts about the Comer/Edelen partnership. The first is that if Farmer had done anything glaringly wrong, wouldn’t Crit have jumped all over it? The second is that both Comer and Edelen have higher aspirations and could face off against one another at some time in the future. Why would Comer be giving Edelen something that he might be able to campaign on against him in some upcoming race? (Not saying that anything Edelen might find could be used against Comer, but that Edelen could use it as a possible feather in his cap). Comer has gotten rid of a bunch of Farmer’s non-merits and it seems that would be sufficient to signal a fresh start.

How would Crit know about it? You’re giving her more credit than she deserves. It took Holly Harris de-nutting people to get them to come forward.

I don’t believe you’re as naive as you’re letting on. If you are, stop voting immediately.

The whole reason Holly moved over there was because of the literal nightmare Richie was leaving behind. And they’re only now scratching the surface.

Jamie’s asking for a full audit so he doesn’t have to take the blame for all the messes Richie caused. Or the missing vehicles. Or the hookers or whatever. Or the wasted money on candy. Or all the other crap.

Don’t forget Farmer’s purchase of 3,000 copies of the UK “Unforgetables” DVD from Speedways across the state.

How recent are these Richie foibles? From what I’ve gathered, most anything that might turn up would be from the last 12-18 months.

They’re literally only scratching the surface. That’s why a full-scale audit is necessary. Provides high-level access to information that may otherwise be tough for Jamie to get.

Reason I wondered is that anything Crit’s administration might have turned up would have already surfaced. Didn’t her office do regular audits of Agriculture. I know for a fact that Crit’s administration was all up in Transportation’s ass over something as simple as whether a truckload of gravel was paid for out of construction or maintenance funds. So if something that minor was such a big issue, it seems logical that what’s being alleged at Agriculture under Farmer’s administration would have been big stuff.

I still think it may backfire politically on Comer where his future political aspirations are concerned. As unpopular and politically poisonous as Farmer may be, Comer won’t make any friends within his own party by seemingly allying so publicly with a Democrat and a possible competitor for a future higher office. I hope if anything was amiss from Farmer’s tenure they sniff it out, but it appears to be grandstanding on Comer’s part to make the announcement so publicly instead of just writing a letter requesting an audit.

“I know for a fact” usually means “I heard from Junior Stotts” or something similar.

Audits only uncover things like Richie did when people talk. And talking often requires castration.

Most folks couldn’t give two shits if Jamie ruins his political career. If that’s what he’s in this for, he needs to resign now and go back to playing with cattle.

Most people do care about finding out about Richie’s foibles.
