Chief Justice John Minton says there’s a need for technology upgrades and additional personnel funding. Unfortunately, this administration and the legislature don’t take the judicial seriously. When they refused to help the AOC get that building in Frankfort last year that would have saved countless millions, they should have realized they were on their own. It’s a sad day in Kentucky. Are you really excited that domestic law enforcement departments are using Predator drones to spy on American citizens? [LA Times]
Former governors are offering Steve Beshear advice for his second gubernatorial term. We saw two former governors over the weekend and both rolled their eyes at the mention of his name. [Ronnie Ellis]
Al Smith (god, how old is he?) just ripped Steve Beshear a new one but suggesting he tackle tax reform – something the governor has said he refuses to do. [H-L]
It’s official. The white washing by Jack Conway worked. Now people in the mainstream completely ignore the reality that he flip-flopped on mortgage fraudsters until we called his ass out. [HuffPo]
Chuck Schumer is rightfully painting Mitch McConnell as weak. That’s because princess has no idea what he faces back home in Kentucky, where he almost never visits these days. [Politico]
Remember when the IRS went after Steve Henry for trying to personally profit from his Rosemary Clooney House non-profit? Guess that didn’t work out, as it’s no longer a non-profit. And he doesn’t even get referred to as a former Lieutenant Governor any more. [Enquirer]
What Joe Gerth doesn’t tell you is that not only has there been no communication from Steve Beshear to David Williams and others, there won’t be. Gambling will be another failure. No one is “playing ball” with the governor and if Joe would bother doing more than calling Lourdes, he’d know that Stumbo and Williams have teamed up and will be an obstacle the governor won’t be able to overcome on a lot of fronts. HAHAHA! PEE ALERT! Here’s Phil Osborne complaining about ties to lobbyists and campaign finance. We almost died laughing. [H-L]

Fake rural broadband efforts aren’t just a joke in the United States – they’re a joke in the United Kingdom. We can’t help but snicker as we remember Jonathan Miller pretending rural broadband was happening in Kentucky. [BBC]

Now disconnected Miss McConnell is attempting to link the Keystone Pipeline to the payroll tax. [The Hill]

“I Smell Sludge and Slime Here, Mitch”
Mitch to his team: “We’ve got to fool the public again, make them believe that the Keystone Pipeline project will create a massive number of jobs (when we know that’s a lie). We also need to hide the fact that massive toxic sludge will be let loose. We convince the dolts that oil and gas prices will not be hiked as a result. Any questions on this new way to dupe John Q. Public? I love this game. And I actually make a mint doing it.”

Al Smith’s article is right on about the Stimulus money Kentucky received to shore up our budget, schools and infrastructure projects. Kentuckians, especially state employees and contractors that benefitted should be especially grateful, because if McConnell, Guthrie, Davis, Rogers, Whitfield and Rand Paul who voted against (actually Rand wasn’t elected yet, but preached against the stimulus) had their way, they would be furloughed, laid off or out of business.
I hate to say it, but the majority of Kentucky voters are “Remarkably Uninformed” (it’s a nice way to say stupid)!

Youngster Al Smith is not. I don’t know if he has any sway with head honchos these days, but I heard that he had a stroke in September and now walks with a cane. So, I’d give him a credit simply for trying.

A couple of Smith’s statements in his commentary make me wonder if he’s not back on the juice again after all these many years.
