Woah, KRS-Beshear-Fischer-Ark Park Shenanigans

December 8th, 2011 · 1 Comment

Yesterday we wondered publicly why Tommy Elliott, a Greg Fischer confidant, doesn’t have a biography published as part of his role on the board at Kentucky Retirement Systems. And we obviously wondered why on earth he’s on the board to begin with.

It’s interesting that Tommy Elliott, a Greg Fischer confidant, doesn’t have anything posted. We’re unsure how he qualifies as an investment expert, as his background is in lending and management at Old National Bank.

Jennifer Elliott is a health care attorney at Stites (think University of Louisville Hospital merger) – so we’re not sure where her investment expertise comes from or how she knows tons about the impact of pensions on local governments.

Steve Beshear has to make two investment expert appointments in April. The term of both Jennifer Elliott is expiring. Since Jennifer isn’t an investment expert, she can’t just be reappointed. Unless Beshear considers Tommy Elliott an expert. If that’s the case, we’re wondering why qualifications are still hidden.

Elliott, you may recall, is involved in the latest Greg Fischer campaign finance scandal we broke this week.

Now rumors are swirling about why Elliott was placed at the KRS by Steve Beshear. And whattya know? The rumbling is that he was placed there in an attempt to secure investments for the infamous Ark Park and a couple other Beshear-backed efforts.

The governor’s folks obfuscated and refused to answer me upon being questioned this morning.

Do you mean that Elliott would steer an investment by the retirement system in the Ark Park?
