The rumor mill is hot this week because the Beshear crew fear that Alison Lundergan Grimes will try to run for governor in four years. So what’s the solution?
They’re hyping that Crit Luallen will run for the office with Jack Conway as her running mate. Will it happen? Of course not. Crit loves to be courted, though. And, no, she won’t be running with Bruce Lunsford but we’d love to see that happen. Maybe then the state wouldn’t be bankrupt.
The other rumors? Crit will run for the U.S. Senate against Mitch McConnell. Will it happen? Highly unlikely. If she was serious, she’d already have gotten her hands on the McConnell research book and she has not done so. It remains under lock and key in my possession. Related note: Mitch McConnell’s people continue to hint that he won’t run for re-election, which is super-weird.
Jerry Abramson could run against McConnell. Will it happen? HAHAHAHA. Please. In his dreams.

What is with the state paying KHESLC millions and millions of dollars through KHEAA? They have a contract, you can view on KY Open Door that says they can use the money for anything, even salaries for people performing non-state jobs. If we are so broke, why are we contracting with an agency so that they can pay their employees to do non-state work?

Interesting that this old post would show up with a new comment because it reminds me of some thoughts I’ve had recently about the 2015 governor’s race.
I expect it to be a doozy. I fully expect Abramson, Conway, Stumbo, Lundergan-Grimes and possibly Edelen to be in that race.
It’s also possible that by that time, legislation will have been passed that allows the candidates to run in the primary without a running mate and then they select their partner after the nomination.
