This evening’s round-up is going to be a bit short because I want you to do something: Tell me which non-religious non-profit organization we should support the final six weeks of the year. Either do so in a comment, explaining why, or send me (Jake) an email.

If Operation UNITE has a non-profit component, then definitely it. Being from eastern KY, you know what drugs are doing to that area.

“Calling for Help from Cain”
Reporter: “Mr. Cain, what about all the sexual harassment charges?”
Cain: “Nein, nein, nein. Unmitigated sado-masochism. I have ever whipped any woman (not even my wife) in the rump without a glove.”
Reporter: “What type of woman would make such charges?”
Cain: “If they were truly virtuous, there would be no problem. But they like to claim being weak and victimized against all-powerful men, especially executives like me.”
Reporter: “Your solution?”
Cain: “It is simple: Dial 999.”

Legal Aid Society of Louisville. The Domestic Violence Advocacy Program is saving lives. They leverage their scarce resources with volunteers from the legal community, but they still turn away so many people who need help. They expand as needs change, including to address foreclosures and veterans’ benefits.

The Healing Place is “where hope is found” for those struggling with personal addiction, or looking to get help for a loved one.
The program is based on a social model that’s about empowerment rather than entitlement, and is more than five times more effective than the national average at keeping people clean and sober.
Addiction is such an insidious disease, and so difficult to overcome.
