Eastern Kentucky’s NOT Entirely Filled With Bigots

There’s a debate in Louisville between the candidates running for auditor. Despite the Louisville Chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors claiming the event is open to the public, you have to register and it costs $25. We won’t be linking to it for those reasons. Charging the general public to hear candidates for higher office debate is as silly as it gets. [Audit Failure]

Greg Fischer is hyping his 2-minute conversation with the president but he doesn’t get to ride on Air Force One with him like John Yarmuth, someone who doesn’t embarrass Louisville: “The closure of this major transportation artery in Louisville has not only caused substantial hardship for commuters and local businesses, but has disrupted transportation and commerce for the entire region. I am eager to discuss its impact as well as the critical need for infrastructure investment in Kentucky,” said Congressman Yarmuth. [Press Release]

Oh, look who it is. Jacking around with yet another situation in Harlan that he has no business messing with. You’d think getting in trouble with the OAG would be enough to stop it but nope. At least Bill Estep knew better than to take him seriously. And you see that, folks? The prosecutor is already investigating it as a hate crime, despite what this guy claims. So quit acting like everybody in Eastern Kentucky is a giant homophobe. [H-L]

We hear Steve Beshear is spreading his campaign cash out to the other Democrats – primarily Jack Conway, who has completely given up. What are you kids hearing? That’s sure to piss some mega donors off. [Deep Campaign Thoughts]

Republicans always pull these hypocritical stunts. Complaining about green energy funds while begging to get them for their own districts. [HuffPo]

Here’s a story about catfeesh noodling that mentions Ernest Lee Fletcher. How embarrassing. [Cincinnasti.com]

This is a really great article about Matthew Barzun’s fundraising efforts for President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign. Republicans could learn a thing or two from him. Regardless of politics, Kentucky should be proud one of its own is doing this. [Bloomberg]

If Ben Chandler said there was no wrongdoing when he was Attorney General, we’re wondering why this is still an issue. We’re also wondering why it’s a bigger deal than Kentucky Central– which so many liberals and Democrats want swept under the rug and forgotten. [H-L]

Here’s how the state’s lesser and crumbling newspaper covered the ordeal. [C-J/AKN]

Wonder how many hours Mitch McConnell will spend complaining about Barack Obama being in his own backyard discussing jacked up bridges? [WaPo]

Republicans are why the economy cannot have nice things. Or, really, it’s the Democrats. Because Democrats never, ever fight back. Unless you count eating their own as fighting back. Or eating a giant coconut cake. [Wonkette]

A new dineysore was discovered that lived umpteen zillion years ago. Mouth-breathers still say the earth is only 5,000-years-old. [Plosone]

The discovery was made in Utah, where mouth-breathers still freak out over the Middle East. [HuffPo]

We thought Rand Paul was askeerd of our Kenyan Overlord? He’s taking a ride on Air Force one with him. [WKYT]

    “A Bridge Over Troubled Water”

Mitch: “Obama coming to the Brent Spence Bridge on his so-called jobs plan tour is a distraction. He’s really tryin’ to outdo us on the game-playin’ front.”

Empress Elaine: “Someone needs to throw him over the bridge.”

Mitch: “We’ll do that politically. We’ll make him dead in the water.”

Elaine: “Yes, that is more important than jobs for lazy Americans.”

Of course Beshear is shovelling cash to Conway and Jane Beshear explained why just the other day to Ryan Alessi and you have the video… To paraphrase…We all know what can happen when the opposing party runs the AG office. Go ask Ernie. Actually, I can’t believe she publicly said it, but she did. The Ky GOP just doesn’t know how to play this here game. Sigh.
