Giant Lie: KDP Claims KREF Complaint Dismissed

August 4th, 2011 · 1 Comment

You know what’s crazy?

Get a load of it yourself from this quote made just before 9:00 A.M. today:

“I learned late yesterday that the Republican Party of Kentucky’s baseless complaint against the Beshear-Abramson campaign has been dismissed by the Kentucky Registry of Election Finance, and they were right to do so. The complaint was based on third-hand gossip, and does not contain an ounce of evidence to support any of its claims.”

– Daniel Logsdon, Chairman of the Kentucky Democratic Party

Yup – the Kentucky Democratic Republican Party’s “chairman” claiming that the complaint filed by the Republican Party of Kentucky was dismissed. Full-on lying to the press.

DANIEL LOGSDON ON KET

Unfortunately for Daniel Logsdon, the case wasn’t dismissed. Just yesterday, the Kentucky Registry of Election Finance’s attorney, Emily Dennis, sent notice of the case to all parties involved. In fact, here’s the information you press folks will likely need: Case Number 2011-190 – In re: Campaign Fund of Steven L. Beshear/ Jerry E. Abramson, a/k/a Beshear-Abramson 2011, M. Melinda “Lindy” Karns, CPA, Treasurer; Steven L. Beshear, Candidate for Governor; Jerry E. Abramson, Candidate for Lt. Governor; and Charles R. Geveden

And here’s the meat of the notice, which was supplied along with with a certificate of service:

Pursuant to KRS 121.140 and 32 KAR 2:030, Respondents are hereby notified that a sworn complaint alleging violations by Respondents of certain provisions of the Kentucky Campaign Finance Statutes was filed with the Kentucky Registry of Election Finance (“Registry”) on August 2, 2011. A copy of the complaint, all exhibits thereto, and the relevant regulations are attached as part of this notice.

Any above-named Respondent may file a written response to this Amended Complaint in the form of an Affidavit within fifteen (15) days from the date of receipt of this Notice.

This 3rd day of August, 2011.

Kentucky Registry of Election Finance
140 Walnut Street
Frankfort, Kentucky 40601
Phone: (502) 573-2226 FAX: (502) 573-5622

Emily Dennis
General Counsel

As you can see, the case was very much not dismissed. It’s ongoing and an investigation is likely pending after responses are received.

It would behoove the folks on Democrat Drive not to lie to the mainstream press over something so serious. This absolute desperation is disgusting and borderline offensive. When the once-great party of reason becomes the party of lies, deceit, defamation (*cough*)? Kentucky suffers. But when that same party because the party of campaign finance fraud-enablers and apologists? Well, that’s just ripping the bandaid off an already festering wound.

Oh – and to readers: Thanks for sticking with us. We’re the only non-Republican site in the state that isn’t funded by the Democratic Party (or the Republican Party) and we’re not about to apologize for it. We don’t accept donations and most certainly have never received funds from Jonathan or Jennifer Miller. Hope you’ll continue to stick around.

When are they going to include Joe Meyer and Jim Thompson of the education cabinet in the solicitation of employees ? Both of them have shaken down non-merits for a fund raiser-told them in a letter how much money was expected at Meyer’s fundraiser for Beshear a few weeks ago
