Jamie Comer’s decision to hire that teabagger girl – who, like David Adams, doesn’t practice anything she preaches (other than making shiz up and personally attacking people – like there weren’t dozens of others who could do a better job and had experience?) – apparently isn’t the only stupid thing he did last week.
Here he is with Larry Forgy:

The caption reads: “one of Jamie’s all-time favorite political figures is Larry Forgy.”
Here’s Forgy introducing Comer:

See another photo of Comer with Forgy – along with another caption – after the jump…
And here he is with Forgy again:

That caption read: “Forgy is a much better speaker than Jamie! (and everybody else in KY!!!)”
Yeah, that’s a definite way to win over sane Republicans and all the Democrats– stand with and praise the guy in the middle of a bigoted and Anti-Semitic froth.
It’s a damn shame to think this guy is dumb, dumb, dumb enough to negate all that negative press Bob Farmer got.
There’s no way people will think all these Comer moves mean he’s capable of making good decisions. No way.
Guess this is yet another November race you can ignore.

I really don’t think Jamie likes Mica. I thought he would of disassociated with her after the primary. Jamie get caught trying to be all things to all people.
That being said, he’s the most qualified candidate on the ballot this november.
2 jake // Jul 11, 2011 at 2:43 pm
Yeah, he does like her.
I’ve spoken to him about her and he assures me she has no decision making authority.
While Jamie is obviously the best candidate – his decision making skills are apparently worse than Richie Farmer’s. Anyone with common sense knows better to hire someone with NO campaign experience and NO political sense to win a general election in a Democratic state. It’s just stupid.
If Jamie can’t be trusted to make good campaign decisions, then, well, I don’t want my tax dollars paying him for shit.
Even Rand Paul knew better than to pull something so silly. Remember when he axed David Adams? He did so for a reason.

I dont think thats really fair. Though Mica and Forgy are polarizing figures, Jamie cannot help who supports him and the tea party does have a lot of pull despite what its critics would like to believe. Forgy ran for governor as a republican in the days when there were little to no republicans in this state. He has to be respected as a person who started or helped start a change in party affiliation in this state. Jamie is a repub so I would expect him to admire a man who had so much to do with the GOP’s return to KY. This in no way makes him incapable of good decisions. Bob Farmer couldn’t tell you which end of the cow is the ass. Condemning Mr.Comer only strengthens his opponent, who will literally destroy kentucky agriculture. Jamie is a good man trying to make his way to an office where he can literally change the course of KY ag and the KY economy for the better.

Uh, can’t help who supports him? Where’d I say jack about anybody supporting him?
This is about the people he HIRES and the people he PROMOTES and PRAISES.
This certainly makes Jamie incapable of winning over Democrats – folks he NEEDS to win. I mean, jesus fuck, even David Williams distanced himself from Larry Forgy.
And you’re right that this strengthens Bob Farmer. He deserves that strength. His ignorant move was to make a bigoted joke about Eastern Kentuckians. Jamie’s ignorant moves were to hire that lying ass teabagger girl and to promote Larry Forgy.
Jamie isn’t changing shit. Mark my words.
He’s about as dishonest as anyone else I’ve ever communicated with in Frankfort. Says one thing one month (that he has nothing to do with that girl) and does another the next (pays her lying ass money).

Further – this is going to be seriously damaging to Democrats.
Having someone like Bob Farmer – who knows less about agriculture than me (that’s a baaaaad thing, kids) – in office for four years? That means it will be nigh impossible for a Democrat to win in 2015 – a year that will be really tough for Democrats in Kentucky as it is. The KDP’s best hope was to have Comer win so a strong Democrat (someone not affiliated with the current KDP horse shit, much like Alison Grimes is currently distanced) could come along and sweep him out of office in a few years. Now that’s not likely to happen.
I also think the Democrats’ best hope is to have Steve Beshear swept out of office so the KDP can build an actual Party organization. But that’s not going to happen any time soon.

This seals the deal. Ain’t NO WAY I’d ever vote for Jamie now. Hiring Mica Sims? Geez, if you just wanted to PROVE to me that you are completely incapable of making an informed and intelligent decision, mission accomplished.
Sorry, folks, Bob Farmer’s comedy act may have been bad, but Jamie’s decision to associate himself with MICA SIMS, and not just associate himself with her, but HIRE her, is far, FAR worse, than anything Bob Farmer has done, in my opinion.
Why doesn’t Jamie just go ahead and admit he’s a teabagger?
7 jake // Jul 11, 2011 at 3:36 pm
I’d say promoting Forgy like that after the Anti-Semitic shit he’s spewed the past few weeks is worse than hiring that teabagger girl.
8 DemGirl // Jul 11, 2011 at 4:18 pm
Agreed, Jake. I was just speaking to the fact that Jamie HIRED Mica, which speaks volumes about his judgment. But, you are right, the sae goes for his association with Larry Forgy. This has the makings of one of the worst lapses in judgment of a political campaign. Way to go, Mr. I Was ALMOST Kentucky Commissioner of Agriculture Jamie Comer.

Comer is a liar. I heard he has been stringing along potential staffers, ones with good track records and that get along with the GOP. Two potential names I heard would even be great at attracting Dem votes. He could have had his pick of the best and this is what he ends up hiring – tea party activists that have never worked on a general election. It does make you question his integrity.
10 jake // Jul 11, 2011 at 5:11 pm
Let’s put it this way: I would have helped Jamie raise money if he hadn’t made these two ridiculous moves. A bunch of Democrats were ready to do the same.
Now? Not so much.
She’s not a tea partier, she’s a teabagger. He told me months ago that she had nothing to do with his campaign and wouldn’t have anything to do with his campaign – despite her speaking on his behalf.
He had his pick of great, experienced, non-controversial campaign staff.
11 CReilly // Jul 11, 2011 at 5:13 pm
The ag community will not support Farmer only Jamie and for the record the majority of them are Democrats. Especially western ky ag.
12 Thunder Storm // Jul 11, 2011 at 5:45 pm
I agree with Jake. Farmer had early hired good staff. Working tirelessly for him. Way more than a person could expect. but it dod occur.
Then he chased them off because he listened to people with no political experience. and to add on top of that, he no longer associates with the people that caused his initial staff turnover.
It was true, many many Democrats in Frankfort were supporting Comer. The tide has changed here.
13 cardinalred // Jul 11, 2011 at 6:02 pm
have heard that comer had couple of good folks early on who would have been very beneficial in the fall election but that they saw much of this coming and left.
14 DemGirl // Jul 11, 2011 at 6:44 pm
CReilly, even if what you say is true regarding the ag community’s implicit support for Jamie Comer (I’m not convinced this is true, but I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt for this discussion), the folks in the ag community, whether democrat or republican, aren’t the only ones who vote for Ag Commissioner. Any registered voter can vote in this race and I can tell you that I won’t be voting for Comer and I will be encouraging my family and friends to take a serious look at the candidates and their staff members before casting their ballots.

The fact that we are seriously discussing the political ramifications of a race for an outdated elected office like commissioner of agriculture speaks volumes about the state of politics and government in Kentucky.
This is not an important race, and it’s practically a meaningless position since there is also now in place a Governor’s Office of Agricultural Policy. (Talk about redundancy and a waste of money).
This elective office needs to be eliminated and the ag commish needs to be an appointee just like the commissioners of revenue, highways, and any other state government departments.
16 CReilly // Jul 12, 2011 at 1:18 am
wondering you are crazy! Agriculture is the largest industry in the state and KY ag is one of the largest in the nation to say that is not important is absurd! Making that office an appointed position is giving a 29 million dollar budget to, most likely, some idiot nephew of the standing governor’s best friend who got a B.A. in marketing in 6 years. The ag comission is also one of the largest regulating bodies. We, as voters, MUST be able to decide who is elected to this office! highway linemen do not feed the state, farmers do and they need all the help they can get!
17 wondering // Jul 12, 2011 at 9:08 am
We no longer elect a chief education official in this state (superintendent of public instruction). Why should we elect a chief agriculture official?
18 jake // Jul 12, 2011 at 10:30 am
Would you really trust Steve Beshear or anyone else to appoint someone to that spot?
They do a bad enough job appointing people like Terry Holliday.
19 farmbureau // Jul 12, 2011 at 10:51 am
CReilly: The ag comission is also one of the largest regulating bodies. We, as voters, MUST be able to decide who is elected to this office! highway linemen do not feed the state, farmers do and they need all the help they can get!
Response: yeh, we’ve seen how that works (hello, Richie Farmer). Ironically, Farmer appointed his buddy (and chief chauffer) as head of consumer regulation for that department. His background? Highway Equipment in Transportation.

Having known and worked with Mica Sims for a long time now, I read all these comments about her with interest. Mica Sims is a truth-teller and has spent more time cultivating her own thinking about liberty and taking courageous risks to telling it like it is than most anyone I know. That she is young, beautiful, with a vivacious personality has certainly worked against her with those who are threatened by her unwavering principled stands and her overall effectiveness in the Tea Party movement, and certainly make her more of a target than the more staid types. She helped Rand Paul and Phil Moffett immensely. She can and will do the same for James Comer. Yes, Mica has put herself out there but she has only earned my respect for her willingness to do this. James Comer will be a better Ag Commissioner for having her counsel. She will not sell out, and I’m convinced he knows this about her and respects her for it. What is happening to her right now, unfortunately, is that she has become a lightning rod for the deep division within the Republican Party. Mica is on the right side of the issues and those who protest, in some cases so very and unnecessarily viciously, either misunderstand her, are ignorant of more detailed information about her, or who are threatened by the fact that the Tea Party has become the dominant political force in the Republican Party. I hope all of you will give this young lady the chance she richly deserves so you can see the depth of her character and her very excellent organizational skills.

Uh, I know you’re the teabagger lady who foamed at the mouth on video a year or so ago but I didn’t think you were this crazy. Wow.
People aren’t threatened by Mica’s alleged “unwavering principles.” Because she has none. She’s a walking contradiction. I respect her personal privacy and won’t delve into it deeply, but she’s got no principles and no scruples. I have more respect within the Republican Party of Kentucky than that girl – and that’s saying a lot.
She played no role in Rand Paul’s candidacy outside of the money David Adams allegedly paid her under the table and Phil Moffett LOST hard. So I’m guessing that means Jamie is fucked.
Mica has routinely personally attacked people, made shit up and traipsed around the state embarrassing herself. Anyone who would hire her after the way she has behaved, treated people and foamed at the mouth deserves to lose.
Pro-tip: Stop pasting the same comment on every story on this site. Jesus.

Thank you, Jake. Just, thank you SO much for YOUR unwavering commitment to the truth and for keeping those of us who care to know informed!
Mica Sims is a polarizing, offensive caricature, which is why, I think, she represents the Tea Party so very well. (They are one of the most polarizing and offensive group I have ever witnessed.) I think her personal attacks on others, as well as her lack of knowledge on the real issues and inability to appeal to anyone other than the lunatic fringe speak to the fact that she will be a great liability to the Comer campaign.
And I believe you’re right, Jake. Jamie is *ucked! But he did it to himself, despite the advice of people who actually wanted to help him and cared about his campaign, so I feel no pity for him. He gets what he gets and I hope it’s a whopping loss at the polls in November.
