Yesterday marked day 63 of Jack Conway refusing to deal with the scandal involving his brother. Naturally, Republican Party of Kentucky Chairman Steve Robertson called him out in a press release:
“Jack Conway’s conduct while Attorney General of the Commonwealth is about as appropriate as a string bikini in an ice storm,” said Robertson. “The fact is Jack Conway stepped into a situation that posed a serious conflict of interest and afforded to one man privileges that no one else in this state could have…or should have…received.”
While Robertson’s comments are a bit too colorful for even us to take completely seriously, the five questions he asks are tough to ignore:
- When Conway learned about the investigation from his brother, why didn’t he publicly disclose that a drug investigation had been compromised?
- Why did Jack Conway and his brother meet with a private lawyer at Jack’s home and what was said during that meeting?
- Why did this lawyer meet with the Chief of Police and who directed him to do that?
- Does Conway believe that the subject of a drug investigation deserves a heads up on a search warrant?
- What does Conway believe should be the course of action when that happens?
Guess we’ll never know the answers to those questions.
It’s a shame Jack is allowing Republicans to define this race. It’s like he wants to give up serving the public.
Oh, that’s right: Jack is nowhere to be found on this issue because he’s using his official office to send out press releases and photographs (four of them) of his latest child. State-funded campaign stunt much?
