University of Louisville President Jim Ramsey says the state pension system should turn into a 401(k)-type plan to save money/so you can lose it all faster. Call us crazy, but we’re not so sure Jim Ramsey has a clue what he’s talking about. Not exactly the sharpest tack on the wall when it comes to speaking in public [Ryan Alessi]

We have to wonder if anyone is shocked that Steve Beshear is attempting to politically benefit from AT&T’s investment in Kentucky. [H-L]

    “Ramsey’s Dead Beaten Path”

JR on economics and campus “leadership” is an oxymoron of the first order. His push for more “Bucks for Brains” is another example of a de-emphasis on undergraduate education and another grab for faculty who are into useless grants that might make the university seem more “prestigious.” What UofL needs is more integrity, more substance–and less “Bucks for Brains” glitter.
P.S. The Bucks-for-Brainers seldom teach, but they do scan the federal books for grants galore.

    “Mohler’s Disgusting Crusade”

Gays do not need any help from the likes of Al Mohler–yet another “Christian” faker who makes Christ look bad. Mohler is good at one thing: intellectual abuse. His humanity is also questionable in the words he speaks about gay people. Christ weeps (regardless of sorry Al’s homilies to the contrary).

    Beggars Banquet

And to those who say it’s not popular, I say, “drop dead.”

Gotta remember that Ramsey is the same person who allows selected members of the faculty and administration to get huge raises in the range of 25-35% while claiming that there is a salary freeze in place. Just do an open records request for a list of raises given to faculty during the last three years. Might be informative. It will put everything in context.

    “Santa Claus Jim”

Flag, you are on target. Also gotta remember that he is the same man who allowed Felner to get a $255,000 salary (after all the grievances, vote of no confidence, etc.), to hire 5 or 6 extra associate/assistant deans at big pay, and to throw large dollars at his dept. chairs to keep them fixed to his deanship and agenda. They all formed a convenient wagon around the Psycho Dean–to permit him to “keep the Indians in place” (as JR put it). All thanks to an uncaring central administration. One more year and the head honcho will go–but will it improve the campus? It will require a Moses of sorts.
