RPK Questions Resignation Of Conway’s Brother

May 4th, 2011 · No Comments

Republican Party of Kentucky Chairman Steve Robertson is questioning (better late than never?) the resignation of Jack Conway’s brother: “The fact is that Matt Conway was tipped off not once but twice by law enforcement that he was under investigation for drugs. The officers who tipped him off were fired or severely punished but Jack Conway’s brother appears to escape any consequence,” Robertson said. “We know Attorney General Jack Conway was involved at some point, which is a stunning development.  In order to maintain the trust of Kentuckians, Jack Conway must admit what he knew, when he knew it and what he did and did not do to alert law enforcement that their investigation into his brother was compromised.”

In addition to Robertson’s comments, he asked the following questions before the press:

  1. What are the circumstances surrounding Matt Conway’s immediate resignation?
  2. When exactly, and by whom, was Jack Conway initially notified that his brother was a target in a drug investigation?
  3. Did Jack Conway or anyone in the Attorney General’s office have any
involvement in the criminal drug investigation involving Jack’s brother or the internal
investigation that followed?
  4. Why did Jack Conway and his brother meet with a private lawyer at Jack’s home and what was said during that meeting?
  5. Did Jack Conway direct anyone to intervene on his brother’s behalf?

Something tells me that neither Jack Conway’s office nor his campaign will want to respond.
