Just a couple weeks ago Congressman John Yarmuth appeared in Frankfort in support of ending mountaintop removal. He gave an impassioned speech at the Kentuckians For The Commonwealth’s “I Love Mountains Day” rally. And shortly after, he gave a floor speech in Washington.
That’s all puppies and rainbows.
But you know what gets our big gay goat? Allegations floating all over Frankfort that Greg Stumbo approached Yarmuth regarding his (Yarmuth’s) opposition to the environmentally disastrous practice.
Stumbo, according to everyone under the sun, allegedly told Yarmuth that he should tread lightly with what he says… as he could find himself in a much less enjoyable position after redistricting.
That’s why Kentucky can’t have nice things.
UPDATE @ 1:50: Yarmuth’s spokesperson tells me the congressman has never had a conversation with Stumbo regarding mountaintop removal.
Unfortunately, other folks within the Yarmuth world say otherwise. And Stumbo’s folks are keen on trashing Yarmuth around Frankfort this week.

Stumbo’s comment: Honestly? Who among us is surprised?
(And I use the singular verb because I know it is one, or less.)
