Wanna know what Crit Luallen didn’t say to David Williams, Greg Stumbo and the rest of legislative leadership when she appeared on December 1 to discuss the Passport audit?
After they spent time hemming and hawing about the mess and how they were blissfully unaware… Crit didn’t get bitter. She didn’t, as we wish she would have done, mentioned that David, Greg & others damn well knew what Passport was up to with the money. Primarily because they directly solicited money from Passport to pay for their projects!
- 2007 – $175 to the Southern Legislative Conference for a sponsorship
- 2009 – $600 to Government Strategies for co-sponsorship for a Senate majority function
- 2009 – $600 to Government Strategies for sponsorship
- 2010 – $10,000 to the Kentucky Host Committee for the National Conference of State Legislatures
Click here to see the expenses for yourself. Pages 64 & 65 of the audit linked in the story.
That’s representation you can believe in from the House & Senate, isn’t it?
Using Medicaid dollars to pay for their legislative shindig. Cute. House and Senate members – all of them – should be ashamed. It’s the fault of the entire General Assembly. Not just Greg and David.

Why didn’t she mention it. It would have eleminated the “blame game” and it would have held the Executive Branch and Legislative Branch accountable. Somebody somewhere on both sides knew what was going on. Crit isn’t running again and she has nothing to lose. Unless she says it out loud for all to hear, a Ky. newspaper and Herald-Leader will ignore it. Jake does all the work yet again. You should run for office. I think you’ll like Crit’s shoes.

I’d rather be tortured to death by someone I love than run for office.
I know I’m ridiculous, but I’m not ridiculous enough to run for office!

P.S. I haven’t checked with her office, but my assumption – after sitting through that two-hour nightmare meeting, is that she only wanted to answer questions, as she was invited to do.
It’s not in her character – and that’s a flaw – to completely unleash. She should have gone insane during that meeting. Literally should have turned that table over and started hollering.

Did Crit track the money beyond the point where it left Passport and into the hands of the member associations? Particularly, I wonder about the U of L Medical School Practice Association, which could be a mechanism to distribute funds to individuals such as those on the board. Has anyone looked into whether the board members personally were enriched?
