Could changes come to Kentucky’s drag drug laws in 2011? This is Kentucky, so nothing solid is ever gonna happen. [CN|2]
Everybody is so excited over Rand Paul’s book of teabagging that’s due out in February, according to Greta Van Facelift. It’ll be the only thing [Bluegrass Politics]
Any good pizzabagger/grifter worth her weight in spray tan would certainly have her hate-filled father write for her. While she draws her $1,300 per month from her teabagger campaign manager pal. [B&P]
Really? Mitch McConnell revitalized Louisville over the past three years? This is the most hilarious story ever written. [WaPo]
Even if you’re not from the Central Kentucky area, you may enjoy digging in to these stories about two unsolved murders from 1987 and 1991. [Richmond Register]
The Herald-Leader is right about what a good move it is to insure children. Parents can’t just wait around until their kid is sick like most of us adults do for ourselves. But it’s irresponsible for the editorial board to give all the credit to one individual. [H-L]
Maybe this is part of the reason Kentucky students are suffering. Because educators and school officials, like these folks in Carter County, always have their hand stuck out waiting for outside intervention. WTF? Money isn’t going to solve all of our educational ills. [Daily Independent]
A miner injured in an accident in Harlan last week is still recovering. Here’s hoping there are no further accidents at James River Coal Corp. mines. [WYMT]
Could David Brock’s new group counter Karl Rove and do what the Democratic Party failed to do? [NY Times]
Of course a Utah Republican would call for profiling instead of scanners and pat-downs. Of course. [HuffPo]
Sarah The Quitter Palin is sending big money to shadowy foreign shell companies. Teabagger campaign finance seems to be getting just as sneaky as the mainstream hacks. (I used “campaign finance” because The Quitter might as well be running for president and this is a political action committee.) [Mother Jones]

A lot of people think throwing more money at K-12 education will work too.

Making sure there’s enough money to function and throwing money at a problem are two different things.
Since you’re an Indiana teabagger, I’m near certain you have zero clue what’s going on in Eastern Kentucky and cannot relate.
Take your spin elsewhere.

Well, I went to a rival school of East Carter, so I can comment. Let’s just say…. the teachers were sub par in the region as whole in the early 1990s and the parents priorities were not on the education. It’s hard to get good teachers to a more rural region that is apathetic than say, a rough school in a city with more people. Many times it was teachers coming back to their town.
Sometimes, money helps. Although, priorities sometimes are out of whack in the rural regions of this state. They value the playing sports of say…. a Richie Farmer than the education of Richie Farmer.
My High School has a small arena for the boys team(5,400 seats) and a good sized Gym for the girls team (2,500). The city only has 16,500. Lots of $ spent on athletics and not as much on academics. Kentucky has a history (more so in that region) of not valuing education. Even in modern days (1990s) it was expected for kids to skip school to go work the local farm during tobacco season. Priorities of where money and time should be placed seemed to hurt more than what money came in. Sounds like our state government.

I just don’t see anyone in Carter County taking initiative. And even in that story, they’re just waiting for money with their hand held out.

I thought the first link was going to be about repealing a ban on drag queens.

i’d like to see the substance behind saying DA is paying Mica $1300/month. If it is there it would sink any credibility she has left. In other words, it wouldn’t change a thing
