Earlier today it was announced that $5.56 million in federal grants were awarded through the Victims of Crime Act to support victims’ services. The 62 awards are funded via criminal fines, forfeitures and assessments – and not taxpayer dollars, so save it, mouthbreathers.
“These grants will ensure the continuation of vital services for some of the Commonwealth’s most vulnerable citizens – victims of violent crime,” said Gov. Steve Beshear. “By providing crisis intervention, advocacy, counseling, shelter and other assistance at a time when they need it most, these programs help victims navigate the criminal justice system, and begin the healing process.”
