UPDATES AFTER THE JUMP
Remember Saturday when Kathy Groob sent us a threatening email?
And, it turns out, Groob’s own candidate says she and her “firm” were behind the campaign literature and she admits it, as well.
In an unusual wrinkle, Daley’s ad has provoked legal action by outside parties.
-SNIP-
The bands have sent Daley cease-and-desist letters for the unauthorized use of the musicians’ images.
-SNIP-
Daley says the images were provided by the Covingtonbased political consulting firm November Strategies, owned by Kathy and Jeff Groob.
But Kathy Groob says the firm had nothing to do with Daley’s ad.
She said the firm produced some mock-ups for Daley’s campaign several weeks ago.
He rejected their ideas, she said, but took the mock-ups.
Groob said the firm often uses artwork not intended for production in its mock-ups, but she could not say whether the mockups produced for Daley included the musicians’ images.
See that non-denial denial after admitting she produced it?
CYA now that legal action has been taken? I think so.
And you wonder why Democrats lose with that crew.
Peep a couple more funny Groob stories after the jump – including details of hijacking candidate databases for her own use…
If our coverage and the latest mailer news weren’t enough, here you go.
Yesterday, a candidate in Louisville sent out an email blast that mentioned the name “Larry Clark” – not the state representative. What’d Groob do? She called that candidate’s headquarters and requested that they send out a second email clarifying that the Larry Clark mentioned wasn’t the elected official. HAHA.
The bigger deal, though, is this Vertical Response email blast Groob’s November Strategies spammed out to thousands of people:

NOTE: If anyone received this email and did NOT request it, please forward it to abuse@verticalresponse.com.
We’ve received complaints for dozens of people and have, ourselves, received it at five accounts we maintain for particular email databases. They are: Kentucky Democratic Party, Kimberly Greenwell, State Senate Democratic Caucus, David Tandy and Beshear-Abramson.
Groob tells folks who call and email her that there’s no way anyone could have received it – and if they did, they signed up to receive the email blast on her website (there’s no way to do so). In one emailed message, Groob blamed an intern. Unfortunately for her, the Vertical Response terms of service provide that:
VerticalResponse prohibits clients from sending unsolicited mail, and does not allow the use of third-party, purchased, rented, or harvested mailing lists. Any customer found using VerticalResponse to send such mail is banned from the use of our service.
So Groob is in violation. She’s violating the trust of individuals who signed up for various campaign lists. And she’s breaking the law by spamming folks.
Again, you wonder why there are so many problems with the Democrats who use that crew.
UPDATE: Even more people have reached out to me. Sources at KDP confirm that Daniel Logsdon gave the Groobs access to at least one database in violation of the KDP’s own promise not to sell or distribute.
UPDATE — Just got this from the Policy Enforcement office at Vertical Response:
First, let me apologize that you encountered this kind of problem with a company using our service. That is simply unacceptable. I have opened a full investigation into the November Strategies account as a result of your complaint. We have no tolerance for the sending of unsolicited mail, and we will not allow this sort of behavior to continue.
Others tell me they’ve received the same response.

When will Democrats stop using the services of Kathy Groob? One screw up after another for her.
Hey, if you’re a political candidate and want to get yourself in trouble, hire Kathy Groob. She’ll make sure that do.

Remind me to never go out of my way to piss you off. BTW: Forwarded my e-mail on to abuse@verticalresponse.com.
Happy Election Day one and all!

I was just thinking about the Campbell County slander debacle …
Look how Kathy Groob ran, and how fast she ran away from Jim Daley. Not a good soldier for the Democratic Party, that Kathy Groob.
So, candidates of the future, if you hire her (and God only knows why you would), don’t expect her to be a loyal, fall on the sword type … even when it is she who is screwing up.

This has nothing to do with pissing me off.

Jake — Lighten up… It was a joke and I suppose a compliment. Not everything is not a criticism of you.

Huh?
Let me explain something for the millionth time: you cannot discern tone of voice via some text on a screen.
Because you read something – to yourself – in a manner that makes you think I’m huffy? Doesn’t make it so.

I reported the email I received from them also.

I’d noticed that Kathy Groob is playing on the blogs at the Cincinnati Enquirer website today (using a fake name again).
Shouldn’t she be out passing out flyers for her “candidates” near the polls, or have her Democratic candidates finally ditched her?
