No one in their right mind believes Jody Richards thought he could become governor of this Commonwealth. He was just playing political roulette.  Even Jonathan Hurst jokes about it. [Larry Dale Keeling]

Dear Politico: Jack Conway loses young people because young people are disinterested and aren’t being given a reason to vote for Democrats this cycle. [Politico]

This is a terrific profile of University of Kentucky trustee Joe Peek. UofL needs someone like this. [H-L]

Really? When was global warming “proven to be a fraud”? If you’re going to comment, you should maybe know what the hell you’re talking about. [We Get Comments]

Really, nothing on the moneybomb. Ever once in a while, you are allowed to say you were wrong about Jack and are impressed by some aspect of his campaign (i.e. raising almost $300,000 in a day online from low-dollar donors). I know it’s hard for you buddy.

    Hard for me?

I love that folks in D.C. think they’ve got their finger on the pulse of the Bluegrass. Ha.

Here’s the reality: I’ll believe it’s a money bomb when Jack proves he raised every dime of that money during the alleged money bomb. So far, no one on his campaign has been able to do so.

Where have I been wrong? Jack’s down 15 points. Rand’s going up on the air tomorrow. And the DSCC is no where to be found.

Additionally, Trilogy Interactive’s little widget – that’s pretty bogus. But if it makes Jack happy to pretend he raised less than a third of what Rand Paul raised in a day over the course of two weeks? That’s cool. Jack will just always be the candidate who almost beat the worst candidate in Kentucky history.

I drove through the new Newtown Pike Extension (south of Main Street) last night on my way to visiting friends on Clays Mill Road. They’ve given it a new name – Oliver something Drive or something. I did not recognize the name – perhaps I should have.

Or are they dedicating the new Newtown Pike Extension north of I-64/75? It has been undergoing reconstruction as well.

The Newtown Pike Extension from W Main St to Versailles Rd/High St/Maxwell St is called Oliver Lewis Way in honor of the African American jockey who won the first Kentucky Derby. There was a naming contest and the citizens of Lexington voted and chose that name. It could not be named “Newtown Pike” or “Newtown Pike Extension” because of some 911/emergency issue. Eventually it will be connected to Scott St at UK’s campus
