The Kentucky Democratic Party Is Screwed

August 30th, 2010 · 21 Comments

You folks watching KET this evening?

The Kentucky Democratic Party is screwed.

Republican Chairman of the KDP Daniel Logsdon is sweating like a hog being chased by a thin, energetic bear named Holly Harris. And Matt Erwin (he’s actually pretty good for an out-of-stater), who is not from Kentucky (just like Rand Paul), is about to get chased by that same bear.

Really, STEVE BESHEAR? Daniel Logsdon is the best you can find to head the KDP? ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?

Oh, and Mattypoo: Check the attitude and anger at the door when you go on television to represent an entire party. Same goes for Dan. Jesus H. Pissier than me when I can’t find the right flavor of Crystal Light.

UPDATE: Seriously. The KDP is officially dead in the Kentucky River. Wow. The State Central Executive Committee needs to step in immediately and get a chairman who isn’t such an embarrassment.

OH OH! Even JENNIFER MOORE is better than this mess. Same goes for Charlie Moore. Jesus. What the hell is this mess?

ANOTHER UPDATE: Really, Logsdon? Defending the Bush tax cuts for an entire hour? Wipe that sweat off your jowl and calm down. Jesus.

Everyone in state government is burning my phone up tonight in complete and utter shame. WOW.

FINAL UPDATE: Found the right flavor of Crystal Light.

Matt Erwin is doing a great job. He’s calm, intelligent, and knows his stuff. I think he’s head and shoulders above the rest. Don’t understand your infatuation with Harris. I think she comes across as nervous and angry.

    Kill it.

Fire everybody, disband the Central Committee, burn the place to the ground and start over from scratch.

No KDP at all would be far better than this repug wetdream clusterfuck.

    Oh my…

Hell has officially frozen over… I miss Jennifer “the slightly less disgraced ex-chair” Moore.

Notes to Dan “GOP Logsdon :

    1) Get a bigger chair.
    2) Bring a towel .
    3) Quit reading the notes in your lap.
    4) Don’t take the lords name in vain on TV

KDP Dead in the Water? How many people you think are actually watching this right now outside state employees? Overreacting much? It’s August.

I flipped over for 5 minutes and came away that I was watching 3 titty babies and a bitch moaning about each other…yawn moving on…

I agree with DemGirl Matt Erwin did fine. Daniel Logsdon is struggling with appearance but his comments are pointed, correct and shows knowledge of historical Kentucky politics. Considering this is his first appearance he did okay. I would have trouble sitting next to Steve Robertson and his putting his hand or pointed finger in my personal space and remaining calm. I like the old set better for these forums.

RyeHill: Guess that’s why half the governor’s staff just blew my phone up screaming how how awful the KDP is, right?

I’d love to see someone refer to Holly Harris as a “bitch” to her face, as “RyeHill” has done.

  • 7 jake // Aug 30, 2010 at 9:00 pm

Yup. Matt ended up doing fine. Interruptions and initial anger bear moments aside.

What, specifically, did Logsdon say that was pointed? The bits where he supported the Bush tax cuts? The bit where he lied about Jack flip-flopping on them? Maybe the bit where he lied about the governor saying he supported charter schools?

  • 8 RyeHill // Aug 30, 2010 at 9:04 pm

Jake. I guess you missed the “state employees” part of my post…

  • 9 DemGirl // Aug 30, 2010 at 9:10 pm

    RyeHill…lol!!!

If you folks think nearly the entirety of the Kentucky press, all politicos and a good portion of the general, educated voting public don’t watch these programs? We’re in for a seriously rude awakening.

Was the Republican/Democratic Executive Director of the KDP suffering from the flop sweats?

I was laughing at him for his piss poor answers. Robertson and Holly Harris mopped the floor with him.

Very sad. Now I see why my party cannot raise any money.

All Logdon is concerned about is getting Beshear re-elected. He doesn’t give a shit about the State Senate or House. He NEVER attends senate or house events…. NEVER. Ask Dick Prelopski, his job is to only get Beshear re-elected. They have goof offs getting paid and the same ole people who volunteer.

The worst of all (pun intended) is Chad Aull. This guy has pissed off democrats all over Kentucky. Yet he is still working for Beshear. He just moved him out of state Government into the KDP. Bad move.

Matter of fact, the only one who knows what he’s doing is Prelopski. Keep him and fire everyone else. I agree, blow it up and start over.

    I agree with “Just Sayin…”

Notes to Dan “GOP Logsdon :

    1) Get a “really” bigger chair.
    2) Bring a towel “or two”.
    3) Quit reading the notes in your lap.
    4) Don’t take the lords name in vain on TV
    5) Study about your party and know the facts, thats what you’re paid to know

Not sure attacking his size is a good idea.

But I have to add: Erwin did a good job. First time in a long time KDP has had a non-embarrassing spokesperson.

  • 13 daniel // Aug 30, 2010 at 9:35 pm

    I don’t watch them…

  • 14 DemGirl // Aug 30, 2010 at 9:41 pm

I have to disagree with Boom regarding Robertson and Harris “mopping the floor” with Logsdon. In fact, they didn’t. They were simply much better at being rude — were successful at interrupting and talking over him; however, their comments were nothing new and certainly nothing impressive. And if we’re going to talk about people sweating on camera and reading off the notes in their lap, well, Harris was guilty of that, too. And her hands were visibly shaking. Just sayin’…if you’re going to play it that way, let’s be fair.

Erwin was the clear winner on tonight’s show, so that puts the “W” in the Ds column. Matt!!

  • 15 DemGirl // Aug 30, 2010 at 9:42 pm

Last line should have said: Good job, Matt!!

  • 16 jake // Aug 30, 2010 at 9:44 pm

Did you watch that program? Matt and Daniel interrupted every five seconds. And Daniel huffed every time somebody said something.

  • 17 DemGirl // Aug 30, 2010 at 9:48 pm

Yes, I watched. I just said that Robertson and Harris did a much better job of interrupting.

    I’m seriously offended.

    Chrystal Light is revolting.

Think of our youth who read this and the impact you may be having on them….

The SCEC needs to kick this guy out immediately. Surely one of the members has the backbone to start the removal process. It only requires a simple majority vote of the SCEC members and does not require any charges.
The Governor has destroyed the confidence in the State Democratic Party by recommending one clown after another to RUIN the party.
Jerry Lundergan was a 1000 per cent better chair than the two Moores and this clown.

  • 21 jake // Aug 31, 2010 at 3:10 pm

While the SCEC, for the most part, believes in the KDP, the actual staffers there are merely part of the Beshear Re-Election Effort.

Doubt there’s any way that any of them could remove Logsdon. Or that anyone would even try.

I’ve given Jerry Lundergan a lot of shit over the years. But at least the man raised money (and gave it to Democrats like John Yarmuth, despite horse shit peddled by a former Kentucky blogger), worked his personal connections, promoted Democrats, worked to build the Party, invested his own money and bothered to leave a competent organization in place when he left.
