Oh, this is ripe.
Last week, the Division of Violence Prevention Resources was apparently dissolved. The director has been repositioned as a policy adviser (to the commissioner), and tons of the staff is being moved around. No one can tell me which staffers will remain in the branch.
This, you may recall, is the state office that deals with funding for rape crisis centers, child advocacy programs and domestic violence issues in Kentucky. And Governor Steve Beshear has essentially demoted it. To contrast, Governor Paul Patton attached the agency to his office and gave it office space in the Capitol. Under Beshear, it no longer merits a director or division status.
After the Amanda Ross tragedy – by a damn former deputy secretary of the cabinet in which this group is now housed – you’d think somebody would realize Kentucky needs to place a greater emphasis on issues of domestic violence. Not cast it aside. In light of the tremendous battle in the legislature over it all, you’d think someone with Steve Beshear’s ear would give him solid advice. Jesus H.
All this on top of excluding VINE funding?
ARE YOU EFFING KIDDING ME?!

the money and staff will be diverted to those who commit violence against horses and jane beshear will do public service announcements about it and touting how important it is that her husband is stopping the violence and the creation of a task force adding that one way to positively promote horses is to buy tickets to the world equestrian games.

Nice to know what when the SS Budget starts to take on water, Beshear has no qualms about throwing women & children overboard first to make sure he’s guaranteed a seat in the lifeboat.

Maybe he’s just creating a ‘safe haven’ for Al Gore?
