Dear Politico: I Uncovered That Story, Not C-J

June 15th, 2010 · 3 Comments

Check this. Politico is conveniently ignoring the origination of this story, as the Courier-Journal did in its coverage. Meanwhile, the embarrassment of a newspaper in Louisville has staffers reading every single Rand Paul story I linked to earlier. (Really – two C-J folks in the newsroom copying and printing every single story.)

Here’s an excerpt from the story, which is otherwise pretty good:

Wilkinson, the former ABOP chairman, said the episode should serve as a warning about Paul.

“He’s going to dig himself a little hole here if he’s not real careful,” he said of Paul’s continued criticism of the board’s certification process. Wilkinson compared opthamologists, who conduct eye surgery, to pilots, who also undergo regular testing.

“All you have to do is think of that pilot metaphor and say, ‘Is this the kind of guy you want working on you?’” he said.

It’s just a shame that traditional media (since Politico staffers are mostly former mainstreamers) refuses to give credit where credit is due. You don’t see crap like that happening so frequently with new media.

Yes, I am bitter. Born that way.
