Rand’s New Spokesnephew Is Skilled Apologist

May 26th, 2010 · 19 Comments

Rand Paul’s new spokesperson/campaign manager/nephew, Jesse Benton, is quite skilled at apologizing for racists.

Flashback to 2007:

“Dr. Paul stands for freedom, peace, prosperity and inalienable rights. If someone with small ideologies happens to contribute money to Ron, thinking he can influence Ron in any way, he’s wasted his money,” Paul spokesman Jesse Benton said. “Ron is going to take the money and try to spread the message of freedom.”

“And that’s $500 less that this guy has to do whatever it is that he does,” Benton added.

Yeah, this is gonna be tons of fun.

UPDATE: Looks like Jesse has some pretty serious ties to white supremacists in Kentucky. The race issue just keeps heating up for Rand Paul.

With 49% of Americans saying that the health care reform was a bad thing (Gallup), 63% favoring repeal (Rasmussen) and Obama holding a 48% approval rating – I think that the Senate election is going to be about a lot more than the several gaffes Rand Paul has made in the last week.

Rasmussen is GOP-biased and thus unreliable. Touting that poll only undermines your position, Mr. “paine” (anonymous coward).

How many ties to racists can the Pauls have before even the insane among them start questioning why they’re so comfortable with racists?

  • 4 Dan // May 26, 2010 at 2:02 pm

ChristopherM, I know you have a deep hatred for anything Rand Paul, but give me a frickin’ break about pretending like that “pretty serious tie” thing is legit. Did you read it? It’s meant for shock value or Jake is the most delusional person in the country. Yet another thing in the long list of things that’ll never make it outside of PageOne/BFAP because of how weak it is.

Earth to Dan: Your “delusional” spin died last week.

If you think people aren’t paying attention to me despite me being a blowhard? You’re dreaming.

Dan, how many ties, serious or otherwise, are the threshold for you to admit that something smells with the Pauls? Ten? Twenty? More? Because the list keeps growing and growing. I’ve said before, I don’t know that Rand and Ron are racists, but frankly they seem far more comfortable with racists than I am comfortable with my representatives being.

Steve Magruder – courageous crusader of Page One commenter fame. How brave to put yourself out there in front of the tens of tens of people reading KY’s blogs!

  • 8 jake // May 26, 2010 at 4:33 pm

    Haha, keep spinning.

I rarely toot my own horn but I’ll do it here: 140+ national press mentions in a single day hardly means but “tens” of people are reading.

But keep on, keepin on, teabaggers.

i am being semi-censor’d for fear i might
talk about howard stern, stuttering john
and how the younger members of the WHOLE
press corp took stuttering john’s interview
of ms. flowers to heart and ask the formerly
    off-limits questions most dreadfully???
we know david gregory does not have the
stature of tim russert for sometimes it has
to be earned insted of inherited. only walter
cronkite was equal to edward r. murrow
and now the whole press corp is one source
journalism in a dreadful hearst castle manner…

Actually, you’re moderated because you’ve spammed more than 100 comments in a single day that make zero sense under different usernames and the same IP address.

  • 11 ChristopherM // May 26, 2010 at 5:50 pm

Enigma, censorship is something that is done by the government, not the private owner of a media outlet. You would probably know this if you would set your bong down for a second.

  • 12 Steve Magruder // May 26, 2010 at 5:56 pm

Paine, my point isn’t about my courage, which I don’t even think about. It’s about your lack of courage. A simple courage, of putting your name behind your political speech.

  • 13 jake // May 26, 2010 at 5:59 pm

I’d be happy to let, you know, 40-50 comments a day through. But 100+? When they’re random poetry things that no one can decipher?

  • 14 Steve Magruder // May 26, 2010 at 6:00 pm

By the way, Mr. “Paine”, do you have a mainstream poll that backs up your propaganda about repeal of health care reform?

  • 15 thomas paine // May 26, 2010 at 7:08 pm

Rasmussen 2008 Final Presidential Poll: Obama 52 ; McCain 46.

    Final Tally: Obama 52.9% ; McCain 45.7%

But, sure, Magruder – Rasmussen is just a right wing polling hack organization. No professional integrity at all….

i am being censored for fear that i
    might crack some “bruno’ jokes…

  • 17 enigma // May 27, 2010 at 12:09 pm

jesse benton has let sacha barron cohen in
the door infamously twice, once for a bob barr
interview, an’ then the famous ‘bruno’ one…
semi-skilled might be the better adjective.

As I have repeatedly said – you are automatically moderated by our system when you flood it.

Note that your comment went through immediately this time because you weren’t fucking spamming non-stop.

  • 19 enigma // May 27, 2010 at 12:11 pm

BRUNO! — enuff said about jesse benton.
david adams ran a totally brilliant campaign.
