Rand Paul Defends Himself With Tiger Woods

May 19th, 2010 · 15 Comments

I wasn’t joking this morning. Rand Paul really did defend his decision to hold his victory party at a private country club in Bowling Green. Not with anything that makes sense… but by citing Tiger Woods.

ROBIN: Some people find it a bit ironic that your victory party last night was at a private country club in Kentucky. Doesn’t that kind of send a mixed message there?

PAUL: I think at one time people used to think of golf and golf courses and golf clubs as being exclusive. But I think in recent years now you see a lot of people playing golf. I think Tiger Woods has helped to broaden that in the sense that he’s brought golf to a lot of the cities and to city youth, and so no, I don’t think it’s nearly as exclusive as people once considered it to be.

See for yourself:

Amen.

So? I don’t see the controversy here. Why not just embrace your inner Paris Hilton and just draw a penis on his face.

Are we really going to start this election season with this kind of insignificant stuff–a meeting at a country club instead of a union hall or a county fairgrounds or a convention center or granny’s barn? Come on, guys. Let’s try to deal with issues that mean something to Kentucky and to the nation. Besides, Conway is from Louisville and no doubt has visited his share of country clubs, stately homes, and inner sanctums of various sorts. Do we really think that attacking Paul over a country club venue will get votes for Conway?

Nope. Which is why that’s not what I did.

I was making fun of his Tiger Woods reference.

Yeah, it’s insignificant that Rand Paul has shown himself to be a country club Republican. That he is indistinguishable from other right-wing Republicans was known all along. Yawn.

Actually, Paul was making a play for the pussy hound vote. Mongiardo cost me a beer and I blame those freaky eyebrows!!! I won that beer back by betting that Paul would win by more than 18 points. Here’s a preview of Jack versus Rand….Conway…Tea Party, Kooky, Wendell’s Seat (see Dead Kennedy and Davies County results) Paul…Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Socialism Obama.

Wonder how many of those city (read: black) kids get to play golf at BGCC. Nothing screams antiestablishment like a Country Club membership.

What’s the difference between a country club Republican and a country club Democrat? Country club Republicans don’t bitch about country clubs, for one. Gotta go, I’ve got a tee time with John Yarmuth at Cherokee.

It’s really a commentary on how frugal (cheap?) Rand Paul is. It’s a “country club” in name only… I mean they advertise for memberships on television… not as exclusive as some people would like to make it out.

You’re talking about a guy who belongs to a $3,240 per year country club so he can play golf once in awhile, versus a guy who owns a championship racehorse and does that whole circuit.

Also, everyone knows the real reason that Rand Paul had his victory celebration at the country club is because as a member, he got the room for free!

(duh, Rand Paul is super cheap)

cary grant even after stardom would
turn the lights off when leaving a room
despite the fact that this compulsive
behavior wears out a switch box. rand
is actually frugal and pinches pennies…
