In heavily Dem Marion County, Conway leads absentees (112 to 70), and Paul leads Trey (20-7). Like I said, heavy Dem.
Also looks like we’ll get more votes for sheriff than for Senate, if absentees are an indicator.

if rand wins, kentucky loses.

Still somewhat early, but it looks like Conway is going to win, barring some weird late numbers…well done Jack, should be a fascinating match with not just Paul but the national Paul movement. Lots of national attention I would think, could turn Jack into something of a national figure as well.
Epic fail for King, no other way to say it. Unlovely though he may be, I thought he was really the only one in the race with a skill set you’d want in a mayor. I fail to see what recommends Fischer for the job, even if he really did invent that damned ice machine. He may win in the fall, but his only attribute seems to be his “not Jim King”ness, which will have zero usefulness if he actually gets the job. Amazing. Good news for Heiner, though. He could beat Fischer.

Someone please remove Jennifer Moore from the KET election coverage NOW!
6 Bridget // May 18, 2010 at 8:34 pm
Scott Jennings just referred to you as “the influential blogger, Jake Payne.” Congrats!
7 Steve Magruder // May 18, 2010 at 8:57 pm
Barring no serious independent entry, Heiner will beat Fischer.
8 Bruce Maples // May 18, 2010 at 9:09 pm
@SteveM — not sure I agree. Fischer has a good staff, and I think they know how to do the analysis to pull it off. They also seem to have the organization thing down pretty well — or so it seems to me, from the outside looking in.
Let’s see how they behave once they’re past the primary — should be revealing. Or, if it’s NOT very revealing … that in itself will tell us something about how they might govern. We’ll see.

Jennifer Moore is embarassing. Can we not get a better Dem on KET?
10 Crutnacker // May 18, 2010 at 10:07 pm
Disappointing to see the Rand Paul blowout, but Grayson’s campaign was terrible. If Paul wins in November, we have another Bunning on our hands.

CNN/Wolf Blitzer just called the race for Conway.

Hal Heiner is somewhere to the right of Mitch McConnell. There is no way in this day and age that Louisville is going to elect such an extremist as mayor.
