Congrats To Democratic Nominee Jack Conway

May 18th, 2010 · 18 Comments

That’s right.

Jack Conway won tonight.

Congratulations to him.

Both he and Daniel Mongiardo – who ran a fierce race – BOTH got more votes than Rand Paul.

It’s gonna be a fun race. And as I type this, Jack’s giving one of the most impassioned speeches I’ve ever heard.

Ya well there are more independents than anyone and Rand will pull those. I think a lot of Mongiardo’s camp will come over for Rand aswell. They are typically anti-obama, anti-obamacare bluedogs who really are closer to a Trey Grayson than Obama.

congrats, and ps… the economy isnt going to get better. But by all means hold your breathe

Actually, nope, there aren’t more independents in Kentucky.

What are the rough registration percentage breakdowns in the state for the various parties?

Should be an interesting campaign. I’m sure the DNC is going to pour a hell of a lot more money into the state than they would if Casey Kasem won.

    Democrats: 1,618,011

    Republicans: 1,044,872

I welcome the opportunity to contrast Jack Conway with Rand Paul. It is a race I am confident that at the end of the day will result in a Senator Conway.
43% of people will support whoever is the Democrat, 43% will support whoever is the Republican. The difference is who every race is determined by. These folks are not extreme voters. They will be shocked at many of the ideas of Rand Paul, such as getting rid of the Department of Education and many of his other crazy ideas.
Moderate Republicans will stay home when they hear these ideas and see Paul as the kook he is. I am stunned Conway has been given this opportunity. And if you do not think Conway will take advantage of this opportunity, you apparently do not know Jack Conway. great night!

Some polls show Paul beating EITHER Conway or Mongiardo in the general election if it were held today. It’s going to be interesting when voters are allowed to “cross over” regardless of how they are registered. We’ve got to learn more about Paul, but Conway has some baggage from his political office. And Conway will have the Louisville tag to overcome. I’m a native of Louisville, so I resent the out-state attitudes that sometimes are out there. I’m just saying…

There’s a marvelous website that will allow you to see the results statewide and local elections.

It will be a battle for sure with Paul and the Conman. This year in particular, I would think they’ll be some Reagan Dems and would be suprised if the Indy vote doesn’t break 60/40 at least for the Repubs.

    Anywho, get your popcorn!

supporters of Rand and Mongiardo > supporters of Conway.

Mongiardo’s positions are more similar to Rand’s than to Conway’s. Rand is practically a Senator.

I think Rand and Ron Paul deliberately chose Kentucky to penetrate with their party of hate and fear, figuring it was a backward, easily duped state full of extremist hillbillies in love with their guns.
If Rand Paul goes to Washington, we are going to be WISHING for the good old days of do-nothing Bunning.

Here’s my slogan for the next six months:
    Paul = Evil
‘Zat easy enough for ya, Kentucky?

Apparently you folks have forgotten that both Daniel Mongiardo and Jack Conway got more votes than Rand Paul. Not combined, but individually.

It may be a battle… but get ready. It’ll get nasty soon enough.

You can keep repeating the scare tactics of “Rand hates education, minorities and loves drugs” but people realize what he really stands for: limited federal power, balanced budgets and no bailouts. Rand’s first fight in Washington will be to enact term limits.

This “Other” is voting for Jack Conway.

  • 15 Steve Magruder // May 19, 2010 at 10:25 am

Jake makes a great point. Also consider that in the primary these were likely all the people who would end up voting for Rand Paul in November, as virtually all Democrats will find his extreme ideology to be alien, and there aren’t enough independents to help Paul even if 100% went for him.

  • 16 Steve Magruder // May 19, 2010 at 10:26 am

    bestmid, my slogan is…

Rand Paul – Too Alien for Kentucky

Why is getting rid of the Department of Education a radical idea? The Constitution establishes no role for the federal government in the educational process, leaving that up to the states. I personally think we’d be better off if we had no federal education policy, no “NCLB” Act, etc. Let the federal government concentrate on the things the federal government is supposed to do.

One lying Louisville lawyer in the Senate from KY is enough. Conway supporters are suckers; Rand-tards are just desperate. Nobody left worth voting for now.
