Oh Snap Monday! Endorsement Stuff Everywhere

Renee True is so angry she’s leaving comments in ALL-CAPS! Accusing David O’Neill of running a dirty campaign. Maybe Miss True should go back to that fancy church of hers where they bite the heads off of chickens. Jesus H. [We Get Comments]

The Herald-Leader endorsed Jack Conway over Daniel Mongiardo. For all the obvious reasons. And Lt. Dan gets called out. [H-L]

Saint Dr. Ayn Rand Liberty Christ Paul yanked down the endorsement on the Republican side. [H-L]

Lt. Dan says Jack Conway supports cap and trade legislation. But newspapers all over the state say otherwise. [Murray Ledger & Times]

Democrats basically think the teabaggers are bunk. It’s science. [Bluegrass Politics]

This is why we didn’t go to the Wendell Ford Dinner this year: it sucked butt. [Joe Gerth]

Apparently some politicians tried to stick their beef in some folks this weekend. [Too Scary]

Jim Newberry’s new television spot makes me uncomfortable and afraid. It’s like a mixture of aliens and military commercials. Weird. [Barefoot & Progressive]

Reeeeechie gon play, coach? Cause Papaw Beshear needs to fear Richie Farmer come 2011. At least that’s what the latest polling suggests. [H-L]

Now that the teabaggers have outsteeped the crazies in Utah, they’re coming to Kentucky to teabag us all. [HuffPo]

Wish we still had a real paper like the Lex H-L in our town.

    “Goodbye to Nada Jim”

So, Bunning leaves and cracks, “It’s been great.” Jimbo, check out the state of affairs in KY and ruminate on what you’ve actually done to improve things in all the years you’ve been in office. “It’s been a big crappy zero” is more like it.
P.S. Mitch was impolite in not attending the Jimbo farewell, but at least he was honest (for a change).

Question to you Jake and all Page One readers: Do you think an endorsement by a newspaper still carries weight with voters? I myself think while it’s still plays a role, I don’t think it plays a key role in voters mind. But I’d like to hear what Jake & others think.

Some newspaper endorsements matter, I think.

The H-L probably matters more than the C-J these days.

Small town paper endorsements sometimes matter – like the paper in E-town, the one in New Albany, IN.

In many cases, it makes me go in the opposite direction. I must say I am completely surprised by the H-L’s endorsement of Paul, since he represents everything they think is evil and Grayson is more ideologically in tune to the H-L’s liberalism than is Paul.

It appears that the only news I can find about Steve Masiello is on CJ comments by readers; no mention by Bozich, Crawford et al…
    Jake–any updates???
    Just saying…

Sorry, the Derby Tickets scandal makes my eyes glaze over…

What is it about former UK players and ticket scams? At least the Herald Leader covered the Miller case from allegation to charge to conviction. The C-J seems to be continuing their protected class journalism. Masiello, like everyone, is entitled to his side of the story, but let’s not pretend that the C-J isn’t, again, making news by not making news. Ah, to be in River Fields when the lilacs are in bloom.

Wow. The one day I don’t read the C-J and I have to remove my foot from my big mouth. Andrew Wolfson did cover the Masiello story in great detail and with prominent headline on May 8. A lot of intrigue, indeed. My apology to Wolfson and the C-J.
