Jack Conway’s U.S. Senate campaign is hitting Daniel Mongiardo hard this week with a new ad.
Just take a look:

Something new revealed in the commercial: Mongiardo remained silent on a vote to significantly increase legislative pensions. I.E., high three instead of high five. His silence will benefit him to the tune of $232,000.
From Kentucky Roll Call, September 23, 2009:
Lt. Gov. Daniel Mongiardo, 49, was a member of the Senate in 2005 and, therefore, can draw his legislative pension – when that time comes – based on his lieutenant governor’s salary. He served seven years in the Senate, during which time his high-three salary was $33,397. When he reaches age 64, he could begin drawing his legislative pension without an early withdrawal penalty, and, based on his Senate salary his legislative pension would be $6,429 a year. However, his pension won’t be figured on his salary in the legislature, as we’ve said; it will be figured on his salary as lieutenant governor, which is $105,744.
So, being lieutenant government(sic) increases Mongiardo’s legislative pension to $20,356 a year, or an extra $232,995 lifetime total. He did not vote for or against the bill.
Combined with what he’s received for housing and travel, Lt. Dan’s sitting on $400,000 of taxpayers’ change. Hello, public trough, Lt. Dan is here to feed.

If Dr. Dans 7 year in the Senate is only 1/3 that the 21 or so years Greg Stumbo did in the House combined with his AG stint. He has over triple the pension buildup.
So is Jack prepared to say that Greg is 3 times the pig that Dan is.

I’d bet money he’s ready to say it. Because Greg would at admit he’s a pension pig.

Jack’s internal polling must not be very good. This line of attack is silly and must not be working very well. After a month of attacks Jack should be ahead and if so would go back to positive to boost his favs.
My bet the next poll out will have Mongiardo up by at least 5 but probably closer to 10 points

Jack got schooled last night like a little girl.

I’m pretty sure it was Lt. Dan who got “schooled.”
See the video for yourself.

You must have Conway blinders on. I am sure I saw water in the corner of jacks eye when he was confronted by the lt. Gov. Just sayn.

Nope. What I have, however, is the video linked above.
Lt. Dan spent an hour nervously fidgeting and grinning.

I would have to agree with Jake.
I would also like to see Sweeny and/or Price run for a more attainable office.

Leave “pension” out of it and you have an accurate description of Greg Stumbo. He’s a pig.

I would use the pig ad if I were running for class president or maybe prom king, but U.S. Senator, not so much. Tells much about a mans character or his lack of. Does not look like the negative ads are doing much in the polls.

And what’s it say about Mongiardo’s character when his campaign staff slur Conway left and right on the campaign trail?
