Yet Another Reason Renee True Should Lose

April 22nd, 2010 · 7 Comments

Remember Renee True? She’s kinda like the Sarah Palin of Lexington. Won election to the office of Fayette County Property Valuation Administrator after her husband (ex-husband) of the same name (Rene True) left office and gave her instant name ID. Ran with now-convict Steve Henry for Lt. Governor in 2007. Practiced nepotism by hiring her mother. Etc, etc.

She’s been out of office a while and is now trying to win again, so she can get her retirement double-dipping on. She’s facing current Lexington PVA David O’Neill, who not only isn’t an embarrassment but is one of the few candidates Lexingtonians are excited about.

Well, guess what I found at the good old Kentucky Registry of Election Finance?

Take a look:

Renee’s such a gay-hater she not only supported the anti-gay marriage amendment, she contributed financially to Kent Ostrander’s mess.

If she feels that strongly about an issue – that she financially supported writing discrimination into the constitution – what on earth makes anybody think she’s not going to discriminate or do something equally ignorant as an elected official?

Thanks for the info… glad to know I have an extra reason to support David O’Neill!

Her yard signs say “Re-Elect Renee True.” As if she’s still PVA.

She makes Rand Paul look sane.

Mr. ONeill is doing an outstanding job, but he is fighting the name game. I urge everyone to speak up to friends and neighbors. Sadly lots of people will vote for a familiar name, lots don’t read the papers or watch the news.

I don’t normally comment on lies, however, I will just this once. What you said is a blatant lie. I do not let someones sexual orientation influence my opinion of them and I certainly do not hate others.

Aside from me not believing you because of your own marked history… how can you possibly say that contributing to a large amount of money to KENT OSTRANDER and the FAMILY FOUNDATION is not a sign of being homophobic?

Your contribution was made just before the election at a time when it was very clear what you were contributing to. You weren’t just voting for it – you were contributing to it. And that’s major.

The only way you can make this go away is demand Ostrander return your $100, hold a press conference apologizing and make a larger contribution to the Kentucky Fairness Alliance in support of gay marriage. Outside of that, well, your actions speak louder than your words.

Contributing to Kent Ostrander (or Frank Simon’s) organizations, or accepting contributions from them, means that a person is automatically mean spirited, bigoted, anti women’s rights, and anti-glbt. There’s no spin that reverses it, other than immediate return of the money and rejection of the endorsement.

True won’t be getting my vote for any office, period, endofsentence, ever, now.
