Remember this morning when I poked fun at Rand Paul for holding a pro-coal rally in Louisville tomorrow?

Here’s the statement on Rand Paul’s campaign website:

Rand Paul will speak at a pro-coal rally in Louisville on Thursday, March 18 at Jefferson Square Park. That’s at the corner of 6th and Jefferson downtown. The rally starts at 10 am ET.

Rand supports lifting EPA holds on mining permits, stopping anti-coal legislation like cap and trade, and helping Kentuckians in non-coal counties realize that coal is a very important part of our energy future.

Innocent enough, right?

That’s what I thought. Until I realized that FACES of Coal (yes, that FACES of Coal) is holding a press conference at that exact time in that exact location:

Mar 17 (Louisville, KY) – Kentucky Spokesman for the Federation for American Coal, Energy, and Security (FACES of Coal) Phil Osborne will lead a press conference featuring Louisville City Councilman Stuart Benson, Hollis Smith, Chairman of the American Small Business Partnership, Mark Porta, Vice President of Whayne Supply and Bill Bissett, President of the Kentucky Coal Association who will speak on the impact of Kentucky coal on the Metro Louisville area.

Where:  Jefferson Square Park – 6th and Jefferson St., Louisville, KY 

So is this a coincidence? Just another instance of Rand Paul and David Adams hijacking a press event?

Because I doubt FACES of Coal would be in collusion with Rand Paul.
