Richard, I think the story is that our Commonwealth's purse/wallet is empty and this fellow refuses to look at the gambling option while putting money into the pockets of the citizens of Mississippi.

My proposal is this, the wet counties should maintain the alcohol sales tax revenues, as the coal counties maintain the coal severance monies. That way we can afford to ignore the morons in Frankfort. In fact I think Jefferson, Oldham, Boone and most of Western Kentucky whould secede and form a new state, leaving Eastern Kentucky to collpase upon itself.

A casino company is just like any other corporation. They'll do whatever they can to advance their own interest. It wouldn't surprise me that a casino company would try to manipulate the press in order to embarrass an opponent. So what's the story here? Williams visits a casino in Shreveport, or that casino informs a member of the press about the visit in order to manipulate the political process?

Nighbert was acquitted and the case was weaker against him than it was anyone else charged and even one who was not charged.

and check out the herald website...remember bill nighbert? he's back...on the payroll (again) for David Williams and the Senate Republicans. Wonder how many who have given to the Senate republicans like their money being spent to pay bill nighbert?

He should also remember, if he runs for governor, that using the pickup line "don't worry, I'm sterile" sticks in the minds of those of us who were on the receiving end of it.

And we remember when it was used, too...

Maybe it's because that paying customer is the President of the Kentucky State Senate and stands in the way of their potential profit?

Who said he was a paying customer and who mentioned purchasing or patronage?

Careful reading between the lines.

I didn't mean to sound snotty or arrogant. But it seems like there are all kinds of ethical, if not legal, ramifications to all this. This doesn't rise to the level of privacy of medical records, but it just doesn't make good business sense for an establishment to embarrass a paying customer by turning over information on their purchasing or patronage habits.

Why would any casino allow a private citizen -- or whatever you classify yourself as (blogger or journalist or media mogul or whatever is the correct term) -- to review security footage or discuss possible patrons with them? Absent a warrant to force them to turn over security footage, I'd think the proper response from any business to such a request would be a resounding "no."
