Participation in Kentucky’s Food Stamp Program, now known as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), has increased dramatically.
From December 2009 to January 2010, the program increased by 6,084 people. The total number of Kentuckians receiving SNAP benefits is now 770,753. A 12.9% increase in just a year and a 22.4% increase since January 2008.
