Gary Tapp deserves to be scared one last time, right?
Well, kids, it’s time to show up for this:
- WHAT: Statewide Fairness Coalition Rally
- WHEN: 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, February 24th
- WHO: ACLU of Kentucky, Fairness Campaign, Kentucky Commission on Human Rights, Kentucky Fairness Alliance, Lexington Fairness, gays & such from everywhere
- SPEAKERS: Various students, Sen. Kathy Stein, Rep. Mary Lou Marzian, John Johnson (ED of KCHR) and George Stinson (Chair, KCHR)
The event, organized by the newly-formed Statewide Fairness Coalition, will rally the proverbial troops and supporters of fairness in the Capitol Rotunda. Supporters will call for a statewide fairness law to protect gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender Kentuckians from discrimination in employment, housing and public accommodations.
So far this session, two bills have been filed in support of fairness. Senate Bill 138, filed by Kathy Stein, and House Bill 117, sponsored by Mary Lou Marzian (she’s not the only one, dear Fairness, nor the sole original sponsor), Tom Burch, Kelly Flood, Joni Jenkins, Reginald Meeks, Darryl Owens, Ruth Ann Palumbo, Jim Wayne and Susan Westrom would amend Kentucky’s Civil Rights Act to include protection based on perceived sexual orientation and gender identity.
So show up and raise hell. And maybe ask Mr. Tapp why he mysteriously decided not to run for re-election (HAHA – you’ll pee when you find out why).
