Ready for it? This is the most awkward thing I’ve received from state government. And I’ve received a lot, kids.
Miss Val sent out an urgent press release a little bit ago and the entirety of Frankfort has been about to wet itself. Take a look:
Lt. Governor Wishes Miss Kentucky Good Luck in Miss USA Pageant
FRANKFORT, Ky. (Jan. 29, 2010) — On behalf of the Commonwealth of Kentucky I’d like to wish Miss Kentucky Mallory Ervin the best of luck as she competes in this weekend’s Miss America 2010 pageant. We are proud of all she has accomplished thus far and what she has done as the spokesperson for the Kentucky Department of Agriculture’s “Kentucky Proud” program.
Mallory Ervin is the daughter of Gary and Lisa Ervin and is from Morganfield, Ky.
I’ve gotten so many text messages, calls and emails that I had to rush to a computer here in exotic Shreveport to publish this mess.
Issuing that hilarious press release. Wow.
I think it really is time for Jack & Dan to wage a high heel race.
P.S. Miss USA and Miss America are two entirely separate programs. The googlebox is helpful.

Perhaps Ms. Ervin’s parents are fabulously wealthy and Lt. Dan has his eye on a big campaign contribution?

They did issue a revised press release that corrected the headline.

They did, indeed, but not for several hours and until after I’d posted it.
It apparently wasn’t a priority to get things accurate until people pointed it out (they refused to return discuss it when I tried – politely).

‘high heel race’ is perhaps the best imagery yet for this contest for the united states senate!
