That’s right – Leonard Lawson and Bill Nighbert, not guilty on all charges.
I hear some folks are upset with Steve Beshear & crew for politicizing everything.

I had lunch today with a lawyer and a convicted felon who just got out of the Federal pen after an extended visit.
Both predicted acquittal. It was the opinion of the lawyer that the government had made the mistake of “chasing” a case against Lawson and Nighbert rather than allowing the case to come to them. It was the opinion of the ex convict that all prosecutors are the spawn of Satan.
Take your pick.

When you play a country song backwards, you get your wife and dog and truck back. Does this mean Bill Nighbert gets his Avalon and un-cashed checks and Senate job back?

Good deal! Ky Justice is great.

This is what happens when the current governor doesn’t even bother trying to end the corruption in his own administration, right?

Jake,
I’m a big fan, but blaming this on Beshear is a bit of a stretch, isn’t it?

A stretch in what regard?
The fact that the Beshear Crew just loosely tolerated the investigation and wasn’t exactly open?
Or the fact that the Beshear Crew is just as corrupt as any in recent history – particularly when it comes to Transportation?

Haven’t really had time to compose my thoughts on this, but I’d disagree with Jake’s assertion that Beshear merely tolerated it. His bunch actively encouraged it, most notably Joe Prather.

What a joke that Leonard Lawson was aquitted. He has paved roads for governors for years and usually without any competition.
And to hear his wife showing pictures of the “humble beginnings” that had when they got married.
Hell we could all do damn good if we had the sweetheart deals this guy has had at the troughs of state government for years! What a crock!
