House Resolution 83 Honors Francene Cucinello

January 26th, 2010 · 19 Comments

Shortly after Francene’s passing two Fridays ago, I suggested to several Jefferson County legislators that they should file a resolution to adjourn the State House in honor of Francene. Because there’s no question she’s one of the few people in the entirety of Kentucky who worked hard to keep our legislature honest. There’s no question she worked even harder to stand up for Kentuckians who needed her support most.

Representative Joni Jenkins came through with House Resolution 83, which adjourned House proceedings yesterday in honor of Francene:

Adjourn the House of Representatives in loving memory and honor of Francene Cucinello.

Every legislator from the Jefferson County delegation – both Democrats and Republicans – signed on with enthusiastic support. With the exception of one person: Larry Clark.

CLARK YELLING HOMOPHOBIC EPITHET – JUNE 2009

That’s right – people from the far right to uber-liberal Jim Wayne – a guy who disagreed with Francene about 95% of the time – chose to honor her. Everybody but hypocrite Larry Clark.

The same Larry Clark who sponsored HR 2, a resolution inviting pastors of Frankfort churches to open daily sessions with prayer.

The same Larry Clark who sponsored HR 6, a resolution adjourning the House in memory of John W. McNeill III, HR 29 in honor of Denver Butler, HR 30 in honor of Specialist Kevin J. Graham, HR 45 in honor of James Yocom, HR 49 in honor of a hotel, HR 62 in honor of Butch Stewart, HR 68 in honor of David Lovelace, HR 75 in honor of the USS Kentucky, HR 76 in honor of Raymond Riggs, HR 81 in honor of John Calipari.

How much more petty could Larry be? Refusing to sign on to honor Francene – a woman who supported many of his efforts – because Rep. Jenkins filed it. (Despite what Larry says – Francene supported organized labor, supported Ford, supported GE and went to bat for Louisville workers every chance she got.)

Here’s hoping people like Bill Lamb, the folks at LEO and 84WHAS give Larry Clark what he deserves: lots of negative reaction.

How flipping low.

Note: SR 74 is the Senate Resolution honoring Francene. It’s sponsored by Denise Harper Angel, Perry Clark, Gerald Neal, Dorsey Ridley and Tim Shaughnessy.

Clark is petty, arrogant , and out of touch. Perhaps the people of his district will remember his lack of character come November…I for one will do my part to aid his opponent.

    “Beam Larry Clark Down”

For failing to honor the memory of a woman who so celebrated and added to the life of the Louisville community, I have one simple question: How did Larry Clark become so dark?

Larry Clark is a walking, talking oil slick. One of the few bigger homophobes in Frankfort is Larry’s buddy J. R. Gray, who puts in a couple days a week running the Labor Cabinet.

Does Larry Clark have Democratic opposotion? If So please provide a web link. I’ve laready donated to Brian Simpson because I didn’t think clark had Dem opposition.

Anyone know. Thanks for the help

    Nope – no opposition.

And there’s no way Simpson is going to beat him.

That district is stuck with Larry.

Lets try this again without the typos…

Does Larry Clark have Democratic opposition? If so, please provide a web link. I’ve already donated to Brian Simpson because I didn’t think Clark had Dem opposition. I’d like to make sure.

Anyone know. Thanks for the help

I know. I ‘ve talked with Simpson and he doesn’t appear to have his heart into it or is lacking the Republican support needed to atleast scare the pants off Clark.

I talked with Clark the other day in Frankfort. He is one arrogant ass!

I have no feelings either way about the resolution, but having a spokesperson from the National Right-to-Work committee on her show at least once a month is not “supporting organized labor .”
I spent 22 years fighting against that union-busting issue during the KY General Assemby sessions

  • 9 jake // Jan 26, 2010 at 1:24 pm

And I guess having people like John Yarmuth, Jack Conway, Crit Luallen, Governor Beshear and uber-liberals like myself means what? That she endorsed and supported everything we believe in?

Hardly. What Francene did was work to allow all sides of every issue the opportunity to hold an open discussion.

But I think you’re showing your true colors – just like Larry Clark. And that’s unfortunate.

It’s ridiculous that so many “Democrats” in Kentucky get closed-minded and think everything is black and white.

I know what my colors are and I’m proud of them. I’ve been fighting for the “causes” since 1972 on both the state and federal level. I’ve been an ulta-liberal before it became an over-used label.
I’m not looking for a battle over who’s the most of anything. I only stated my opinion. I am closed-minded when it comes to promoting the RTW’s agenda to attack organized labor.

    what an a-hole

  • 12 jake // Jan 26, 2010 at 3:47 pm

You’re entitled to your opinion about RTW – I am on the same page.

But it’s silly to blame Francene for allowing two sides of an issue to be heard.

This was really a no brainer and Clark had to muddy it up. Nothing new nor unexpected by him.

In the meantime Francene did what she did best. She tried to present both sides of an issue and let folks make up their own mind.

I am a die hard labor man myself and fight for workers rights everyday but I also believe the more informed people are the better choices they make.

I am with Jake on this one.

In no way will i use the tragic passing of Francene for any political point but there are a few comments i would like to make about me. We are roughly 10 months from the election and at last count it is a even race. Jake, as i do agree you on many issues, i would love for you to at least admit that i have a chance to defeat Clark. Yes it will be tough as can be, i can admit that, but i have what other republican candidates lack in this district, i have a labor background. This has been Clarks bread and butter every 2 years and those comfortable votes in the past that he has received will not be there as plentiful. I need a swing of 600 votes if i use the last election results of his election against a opponent. That is very attainable in my opinion. Another comment that maybe i didnt have the heart to win this race kinda befuddled me. During these winter months i am attending as many events and meeting as many people as my 3 year old daughter will allow me. These are the months where items are purchased that will not only get my message out but also the message of Clarks dismal voting record. I ask only to have the chance to prove myself when that time comes, nothing more nothing less. If every person who has came out against Clark and the long list of incumbents would contribute to candidates like myself, maybe we could actually get these people out of office for once. $20 goes along way when many step up and contribute. Do i have alot to learn? You bet i do, but when you look at me and Clark, and judge us by just character, i simply crush the 30 year incumbent and i am mighty proud of that. My phone number is on my web page and i welcome anyone’s phone calls. I cannot promise you will hear the exact answer that you wish to hear but i will never disrespect you in anyway, shape or form. I just ask for a chance to prove myself, and i deserve that opportunity.

Show me a poll that says you’ve got a shot and I’m there.

I’d even consider contributing… if you weren’t tight with the teabaggers.

  • 16 Brian Simpson // Jan 26, 2010 at 9:03 pm

As of today Jake there are no polls and you know that. I had no idea that i was “tight” with the teabaggers. I recall in the past posting that i attend any event that i can. The importance of being seen and talking to everyone that i can is huge, you know that jake. I rather have your friendship over a contribution anyday my friend. Put a price tag on that if you can.

If there are no polls, how do you consider “at last count it is a even race”? Just curious…

  • 18 Gordon Garrett // Jan 27, 2010 at 3:44 pm

What a terrible thing to do. Shame on Larry Clark.
