Thanks to an awesome reader for an amazing discovery. Check out what was located recently in Lexington at the Friends of the Public Library sale.
It’s a “used” book priced at $4. And it’s what I’d like to refer to as the damn motherlode of hilarity.
An advance copy of Sylvia Lovely’s The Little Red Book of Everyday Heroes signed and dedicated to Jim Newberry… and then given away to the library by Newberry with a special little note. PEE ALERT.

COVER

Trust me – you’ll want to see the hilarity after the jump…

I dare you to do an open records act request for the receipt; Newberry’s dull enough to have actually gotten one. Someone might also ask whether he deducted the “value” of the book on his taxes.

There are not enough words to explain my feelings about this.

Dear boy, thank you for the warning. Strapped on a sturdy Depends and it held, thus saving the lovely Louis XV chair I’m sittin’ in.
