Breaking: PSC Approves Coal Ash Pond

December 23rd, 2009 · No Comments

The Kentucky Public Service Commission just approved construction of a new coal ash pond at the Trimble County power plant, which supplies electricity to both Louisville Gas & Electric and Kentucky Utilities. I told you yesterday about the controversy and the risks.

The PSC, cutely, refers to the ash pond as “a new ash landfill” – ha.

KU will spend $34 million on the project and LG&E will spend $37 million.
