The Institute for Policy Research at the University of Cincinnati, on behalf of the Foundation for a Health Kentucky, polled 1,669 Kentuckians between October 8 and November 6. And it’s interesting to note the attitudes of Kentuckians toward health care reform.
- One-third of Kentuckys 18-64-years-old are currently uninsured
- 1 in 3 Kentuckians reported they were unable to obtain medical care when they needed it because of the cost in the past year
- 1 in 5 Kentuckians owes more than $2,000 in unpaid medical bills
Here are the interesting data:
- 81% of Kentuckians favor providing access to affordable, quality health care to all Americans
Of those 81 percent?
- 70% support requiring employers to provide insurance to their employees or pay into a fund that would help do so
- 70% support requiring all Americans to have health insurance, with financial help for those who can’t afford it
- 72% support offering tax credits to help toward the purchase of private insurance
- 59% support the creation of a public option or government-run health insurance option, similar to Medicare, to compete with private insurers
Meanwhile, Mitch McConnell says he knows what Kentuckians think about health care…

Too bad Barrack Obama does not provide leadership to the people who support a public option. Sure McConnell is against it, but at least McConnell stands up for what he believes in.
What does Obama believe in? Can anyone really say they know?
