This Is Why Jim Gray Will Be Mayor

December 17th, 2009 · 2 Comments

Jim Gray has released his statement on the Kentucky League of Cities audit:

“The audit report of the KLC speaks to a larger issue.   When you total the costs of these scandals from the past year, we the taxpayers are being stuck with more than a $3.5 million tab for questionable spending, bonuses, perks, un-repaid loans and other financial hi-jinks.  When will it end?  And how much will it have to cost us before the administration makes real changes to fix this?  And, make no mistake: This is not just costing our people and our city over 3.5 million dollars.  It is costing us our pride in our city, our reputation as a city, and our confidence in Lexington’s future.  To restore faith in City Hall and create the climate of economic confidence we need to get our economy moving again, this persistent and pervasive culture of corruption has got to stop.”

Nice, subtle way to call Jim Newberry out, for sure.

Any link to the press release? Or do I have to sign up for Gray’s email alerts to get this?

He should put stuff like that up on his website.

Oh – and Jake? Fantastic job on the Rand “Klan” Paul stuff. Seriously.

It only went out to media and I published it in-full.

Was really just the above statement.

I have a feeling he’ll put more substantial material on his website and make it more widely available in the future, though.
